What's with All the JFF Questions???

Is anyone else getting sick of seeing so many JFF questions lately? I'm not trying to be a downer, it just seems like every other question is JFF and it's somewhat annoying. Anyone else feel this way? :-)

For those of you who don't know what JFF is. Just For Fun. Go look through just the last few hours alone and you will see about 3 or 4 that have JFF in the subject line.

Wow Christina, aren't we a little smarty pants!!

So What Happened?

Ha ha, loved the disgruntled wife-apedia comment! Completely agree about that! Also couldn't agree more regarding the 'could I be pregnant' posts.

Geez, ladies, I am not at all saying you can't post a JFF question, it's just annoying seeing it in the title. I'm sure you can tell by the subject line that it is a JFF question with out having to always put JFF down, so most of the time I choose not to read them. And yes, I'm aware I do not have to read them, but thanks for letting me know that!

And to MrsLavallie; you state in your profile that you are a baptist and love the lord so much. I find it interesting you posted such a nasty comment being a christian and all. Your comment was also very judgemental, something christians aren't supposed to do!

Yikes. You must have been really miffed if a few JFF questions prompted you to post about them. Calm down. Have a glass of wine. Or some sex.

They don't bother me at all, IN fact I appreciate that they state in the title that it is a JFF so if i'm not feeling particulary amused by stuff like that today, then i can skip it. but most of the time i get a kick out of reading them.

Sad to say, my main form of socializing and entertainment is this site so if people want to relax and just shoot the breeze in this manner i think it's fine. If i want to play Dear Abby and do some relationship rescue then I look for that, if i think i'm the next Patrick Demspy Greys anatomy side kick then i answer the medical questions. A little something for everyone.

Maybe people want to ask questions for fun. Maybe they don't have drama in their lives, and know what to feed their family for supper and are comfortable with what kind of diapers to use.

I am totally not slamming the people who ask for food ideas...I love to share!

I just mean, maybe some people just want a fun question. I'm not sure I see the problem with that...and I agree with Christina that if you don't like it, why are you wasting your time reading them? And then complaining about it? And then calling someone a smarty pants?

Sounds to me like you are a bit of a downer, and quite a smarty pants, that you are being a bummer, and that you are VERY UNHAPPY if you are going to begrudge other secure mothers their happiness from "JFF" questions.

You are being ridiculous.

I have to agree with Denise, ha ha.

JFFs are not on my annoying list. Anything that asks "should I call the doctor" (um, yeah!) or "could I be pregnant" (sorry, I don't know, I don't live in your uterus) or has anything to do with someone's "yet another" random rant about their husband's inability to complete basic human tasks is far and away more annoying.

The last makes me think there should be a DisgruntledWife-apedia site.

Added: Earlier this year, I posted a JFF question about "What's your Most Reviled Children's Toy", and got some funny answers. Let me just say that if I hadn't posted this humorously, it would have been a big grump about my husband, which really-- I don't think anyone wants to read that! My JFF was a way of finding humor and support when I was *really* fed up, and no one had to ride my emotional rollercoaster for me to get it. And I didn't have to throw my husband under the bus or hear about what kind of troll he likely is for buying my kid something I'd asked him not to. He made a mistake, and I found a way to make light of it. There's another way to look at it.

Oh, and I don't Facebook or play online games, either. Usually I work my butt off between working and being a mom. (Even my son knows I have two jobs, "taking care of me" and "making school".) Seriously-- relax. Breathe.

Hi M.,
I really don't mind the JFF questions because they are, lets remember, JUST FOR FUN!
On a side note, I really resent the fact that you called out Mrs. Lavallie as being a judgemental christian. Just because she is a "Baptist who love's the Lord" doesn't mean she's not entitled to an opinion. You asked a question about something that is "annoying" you and she responded with an honest answer to your question along with an observation regarding the tone of your comments. You called Christina a "smarty pants" because she also made an obervation that obviously offended you. However, lets acknowledge the fact that you posted a question that may have been offensive to those who post the JFF questions and to those who also choose to respond to them. We shouldn't judge others based on their faith, or choice of response, or question because that really tends to make for a hostile environment and discourages others from answering questions for/to you in the future.

So when I first read this I couldn't help but think passive aggressive much? No really this is a perfect example of passive aggressive behavior. Insult a mess of people and then cry that you are the victim...I digress.

All afternoon I kept thinking what posts is she talking about. I really never see any just for fun posts. So tonight my computer logged me out so I had to log into the home screen. Right there in front of me were a mess of just for fun posts! Right there in the posts with the most hits section. *dies*

So to answer your question you are seeing so many just for fun posts because apparently everyone but you enjoy them.

Have a great night!

Sometimes I need advice about something and another times I am just curious about what others think. I actually like "Just for Fun" questions. Many of them made me laugh and some of them let me see the funny side of moms I have seeing for long in here.
I answer lots of serious questions sometimes is fun just to answer silly ones.
I like that people put JFF because maybe some people like you only wants to answer to people in need, that way you can move on to the next.
Funny ting, I actually consider your question a JFF question.

They don't really bother me....some of them I read but mostly I just skip over them. They usually have about 40 responses anyway so I don't feel my input is gonna needed.

I do find it odd though that I see several posts about the same thing on the same day....ie on one day there will be several about fitness and then the next day there will be like five on potty training. Although it doesn't irritate me, I do kinda wish people would take the time to search through and see if there has already been a question asked that is identical to theirs!

There are so many posts on here about crockpot cooking...I think people don't have time to search old questions and are looking for a quick answer, well I skip those questions now cause I've looked at so many! The only thing that really is kind of bothersome to me is when the question/topic doesn't really tell you what kind of issue it is...like "I need help"", I'd prefer something else, like, "help with husband", "help with adoption"... most times I just skip the vague ones.

I like a lot of the JFF questions... Like the 'landscaping' one. It made me laugh when I saw it, because I was getting ready to ask the same thing... Not neccesarily JFF, but because I was actually curious about what other women do. They are unimportant things, that are pretty fun to know. Plus, it helps you know that you are not the only one in this world who likes to do things a certain way, or have similar feelings about different situations. Especially when you are on a lot, you kinda get to 'know' some of the mommas. It's interesting to learn little bits about people, and even if you don't really know them for real life, there is a very real sense of companionship among some of the mothers on this site. :) The thing that bothers me the most is when people post 'JFF' questions, or something that seems trivial, and mothers answer with 'If this is the only thing you have to worry about I don't know why you are complaining' (or along those lines.) As if any of us know the full story, or what else could be going on in their life.

Oops! I asked a "Am I Pregnant" question a while back. Guess I'm one of the losers. Sorry ladies, didn't mean to offend anyone, or make anyone mad. You would think after 3 kids, I would know better right? But alas, maybe, just maybe, it's someone just looking for a few kind words, moral support, or could be that they are too ashamed to talk to anyone else in person because they either want the pregnancy so very badly they are scared of the negative, or they are so very petrified that it's going to be positive (in my case.) It's really not our place to judge as to why anyone asks anything is it? But back to the point, there are titles to these questions for a reason, to give you a clue as to what the poster is going to ask. Go figure!!

I'm with you, I do not answer the JUST FOR FUN questions, and prefer questions spell things out instead DH,DD,DS because I am reasonably sure after reading some of the questions, the mama's are feeling that their family members are NOT so DARLING at the moment. As for the JFF questions I sometimes think they are just FISHING and some might not be a mother.

While we mention abbreviations I can not stand SAHM....because it's so much like SHAM....and not mom that stays at home taking care of her family is perpetuating a SHAM. To take it a step further, how many stay at home mothers actually get to stay at home, with all the shopping, driving, sports activities, school activities, etc. that they have to do on a regular basis, not to mention all the actual household chores they do?

There are many better titles for a mother who takes care of her children without a regular paycheck!

Blessings.....

This site consists of many, many different kinds of people. Maybe some of us are sitting here on a rainy day, with the kids napping, husband out of town, and feeling possibly lonely, and just want to reach out to feel "connected" to other Moms. That's the way I look at it, because often times, that's me. (I haven't posted such a question yet, but maybe I will now!)

I think the thing is that we are all different and it's a public board. So what are you gonna do? I think a question like yours just opens a door for a gripe session and everyone airing their own complaints and of course makes everyone who posts JFF questions feel come down on. When people post up about could they be pregs or don't check up on other posts about their situation, it's just because they want to share and feel acknowledged. The only time I remark about a post is if it is offensive, like racist or something crazy, and I just flag it within the post itself. Other than that it's live and let live. So many differing types of people, so I think you have to let it go and of course as you stated you don't have to read them.

I have no problem w/ the JFF questions. A month ago I asked one myself regarding gas prices in the city you live in. Sometimes it's a fun break to read the responses of the JFF questions.

But, why are so defensive about the answers you're getting?? You're calling out the mom's that you are offended by and commenting about their answers and commenting about their bios. You asked a question and moms are responding - don't bash a mom just because she leaves an opinion you don't like.

We all have momma dramas in our own lives, we don't need it online too!
