What's the Cheapest Place for a Christmas Tree??

Hello all!

I'm on a super tight budget for the holidays and I was used to getting my $10 tree at Wise Buys......now that it's gone I have no idea where to go! There is no way I can spend $50 on a tree, like I've seen some lots advertising. We just need a 4 or 5 foot tree for $20 to $30 (if that even exists!) I'm so out of touch with tree prices! Has anyone seen any cheapy lots popping up yet? I'm going to buy one next weekend but wanted to get some input.

Thanks in advance!

By the way - I'm in Citrus Heights but am looking in about a 10-15 mile radius of CH.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I had to run across the street from work to the Walmart Neighborhood Market and since it's in the same parking lot at Home Depot I drove by the tree lot at Home Depot. I have to say I was totally shocked at their prices (in a good way). Thanks so much to everyone who offered advice. I ended up getting a Doug Fir that was about 6' and stuffed that baby in my Buick and set it up before I picked up the kiddo one rainy afternoon. He was so excited because he didn't think we'd be able to get a "huge" real tree.

I used to be able to find a real one for $15 at these places then get a fake tree after Christmas when they are on sale.

Check churchs. I know my parents church charges $25 for any size tree. Check Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart. Last year their trees were very reasonable.

Right now SAM's has real trees for about $28.00. Check them out. I was there this past Saturday.

Good luck. Otherwise I know Home Depot has them for about $49.00-$50.00.

My boss priced artificial trees today and found the best prices at Walmart. They just have the most buying power the world over.

I suggest that since you are on such a tight budget that you just do with a smaller one or just don't get one this year. Then after Christmas go find one that is half price or even more at some place and get the biggest one that will fit in your home. I got my biggest tree for about $25 the week after Christmas and it was nearly 8' tall and very lush.

Ditto Home Depot, Wal-mart stores.

What about checking with your local forestry and see if there is an area you can cut a tree for free. I doubt SoCalif practices this like other parts of the country. When we lived in Louisiana, Texas, Colorado areas, they allowed people to cut their own out of certain areas.

Are you wanting real or artificial? I know here you would get an artificial one at Walmart or Target.
