Do they still make Big Wheels? They are all plastic, durable, light weight and my boys spent hours and hours on them.
Hi Mama's, my son is turning two next month and I was thinking about getting him his first tricyle. I don't know which one to get. Price is a factor, but so is durability and useability. Would appreciate any advice.

A Plasma Car!!!!!!
BEST ride-it toy ever. My son started riding his when he was 2...still does at 7. It's become the neighborhood thing...with parents lawnchair blocking off a culdesac at the bottom of a hill. We started requiring helmets at about age 3-4, because they started moving FAST about that age. The durn things are nearly indestructible, super maneuverable, we've only had one "tip over" in 5 years with over 20 kids riding, & will support adult weight -but aren't as maneuverable for US!!
The video demos all show the handlebar movement...but this isn't how most kids actually ride them. They "scooch", using their legs.
Get the rollerblade wheels though for riding in the house, ESPECIALLY if you have tile (noise).
Don't get a trike!! Get the following or something similar. http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/step2-coaster-training...
These coaster training bikes are the best! My son is 4 and still rides his, plus he can ride a bike w/out training wheels, I credit that to learning how to balance on this coaster bike. Also, I've seen many kids test it out for the first time whenever we bring it to the park - everyone from 1 years old to 12 years old wants to try it out and only one time did I see a kid just not get it. As long has she can touch the ground while on it - she will have fun!!

for my daughter i didnt want a trike i got her a little bike with training wheels. she has a classic radio flyer 10 inch bike. she loves it. well i cant find the exact model of her bike but here are some options.

We have one that we love. It's made by Radio Flyer and it costs about $70. BUT! It has a detachable handle so you can push from behind and control the steering too if you wanted. The seat is adjustable so it will slide back as he grows. It's made of metal with the exception of the seat and the storage bucket in the back, which is great for the ever exploring toddler who wants to take things home.
