Great question and great idea's!! I find stockings for the kids so easy, and for my hubby such a pain in the rear. I have considered putting some diamonds in there and then saying Santa must have messed up! LOL
I'm really stumped this year as to what to get my husband for Christmas. Last year, he proposed to me... I can't top that! I know he'll make me a 'Christmas list' for actual presents, but I don't know what to put in his stocking this year.
I always give him coal, gummy bears, chapstick, cologne (which he no longer wear's now that he's not in an office setting, he still has most of the bottle from last year), a new tie (again, doesn't need that), a pair of boxers (doesn't need any this year)... a new ornament, 'coupons' (for back massages and 'stuff')... I don't know what else. I'm trying to get my butt in gear on the Christmas shopping thing.
What are your husbands AND kids asking for for Christmas? I need ideas...
@Aunt Mel Mel, he looooves fishing, but he never likes the stuff I buy. I thought of a sporting goods store gift card, BUT I really, really want to give him tickets to see one of his favorite bands... they're just not playing anytime soon.
@Denise, if I didn't start now, Santa would be skipping our house. Too busy!

My husband and I usually agree on an "Us" gift for Christmas. Something we both want for the house or something.
I put belts and a movie in his stocking last year. COOL I know...lol.
This is the first year I am not going overboard with the kids. They make a list with like 5 things, and I always go completely over that! No wonder we have too much stuff! I am strictly sticking to the list this year! I will make them make it mid November and then I will go from there.
We always put a little lump of coal, a new ornament (1 a year), an apple, an orange, different nuts, and a hot wheel in the stockings. It's just a tradition we have. (Many years ago we were talking about how we got the same stuff in our stockings, even though there's a big age difference and he was in a different country than I.....until I said "hot wheels" and he was like "WOW, that was the main gift, not the stocking gift!" ---There were 3 boys and very little money in his house). So, from that time on, he gets a hot wheel in his stocking, though our boys end up playing with them, lol.
I also like to get him his favorite jellybeans and some British candies which is a rare treat. Some gingerbread or other treat as well. Sometimes I put tickets to something (any event that might sound fun--sports, music, comdey, theater, plays/ballet, whatever), a random DVD from the past that we've talked about or one that we have a funny story about, a book, itunes cards, a giftcard, a new picture for his desk, etc. Silly adult things, flavored things, etc to make him blush.
THIS year will be a surprise. He's mentioned every Sunday this season that Breaking Bad really is the best show ever and THAT would be a show worth buying (DVDs). I never really answer and just act all absorbed in the show, but he's getting those series, and a hard to find book that's been out of print but I finally got. A few things for camping (family fun that is his "thing"). But in his stocking this year amid the edible treats and normal stuff, is a watch that I saw him looking at. He's been wanting a watch for a couple years, and I paid attention to the one he kept looking at. I'm wrapping it in the kids paper so he'll think it's something random (a harmonica?). Thought it'd be fun to slip it in the stocking.
As for the boys: NO IDEA AT ALL. Sheesh. Joseph's having a Star Wars birthday party I'm trying to prepare for, and we have 5 guests coming at once for that weekend, and his first kung fu tournament, and Halloween (we have ideas but nothing done yet), and then Victor is having his 2nd birthday (first actual party though)---Jack's Big Music Show theme, and Thanksgiving and the extended family thing. Then 3 other birthdays, including my husbands, before Christmas. And Then New Year's Eve and our anniversary on Jan 2. SHEESH! I need to get cracking on this stuff!
My hubby is weird and likes practical gifts.....Lowes gift cards, tools, books, music CD’s…..etc….but I do the same every year so you would think he gets bored…nope LOL
The girls will get a power wheel car of some type to share and some smaller items to open under the tree...hubby talked me into the powerwheels...i was going to go scooters, which I know they will like either or.
Mine usually gets a few bags of beef jerkey (weird thing that his parents started when he was little,) a few bags of his favorite candies, some lottery tickets, itunes cards, and xbox points.
Emergency fire starter, non slip snow grabbers (for bottom of shoes), candy, chapstick...that's all I have for now so I'm interested in seeing what everyone else posts! What about some personal lubricant or something sexy for the two of you?
Kids will get nano bugs, paint dobbers, bath crayons and candy.
Not a stocking stuffer but my husband is a fantastic cook. He is really into the show "Good Eats" by Alton Brown. Well they have turned the show into books, for our anniversary I bought him three of the books. He will get a few more for Christmas.
What are your husbands hobbies? Find a hobby and just go from there.
Does he like comedians? Buy some tickets to a comedy show. I have surprised my husband with tickets to many different things and he's loved all of them. Cause he never thought we would be able to go. We've seen Jeff Dunham, we've see the Police in concert, had great seats he would never have bought on his own to his favorite hockey team.
Hope that helps.
I want to get my wife one of those waffle makers like the have in motels where they have self service breakfasts. You pour the batter in, turn it over and it beeps when it is cooked. We went to a motel that had one and my wife loved it.
I'd love to find one on craigslist, but haven't started looking yet.
She also wants a quilting sewing machine. I can't afford a new one so I'm hoping some one will want to sell a used one.
Nice Question. Good luck to you and yours.
My hubby is really into WWE. And we don't get any tv channels that show it. So I get him the dvd sets for christmas. Also if he really likes a movie we see I take note and alot of them were books first, Like he REALLY likes the green mile. We rented it one time and I bought it for him for christmas last year and this year I am getting him the book. Then I a getting him a couple sweaters and shirts. (he is always complaining I steal all his clothes to wear to bed...I only use two different shirts. he is just a clothes horse lol) My son is two. So he is not really "asking" for things, but he loves winnie the pooh and elmo and music and building. So we got him some pooh legos and an elmo guitar and a couple dvds, and tricycle and a kitchen set with pots and pans (my sister is going to cooking school so she got him a little chef's hat and set to go with it so they can "cook" together) we buy alot of things during after christmas sales so we only spent about $70 on his 8 gifts. He is getting really into art so I might pick up some glitter crayons and packs of stickers before christmas as well. I love this age because most everything he enjoys and wants is pretty cheap!
Some nice, comfy, cushy socks that wick moisture away from the feet.
A nice new razor and good shave gel.
Some small tool sets for the car/truck.
A good LED flashlight.
A small-bottle assortment of fancy scotch or bourbon.
O give my husband a copy of one of his favorite magazines (Wooden Boat).. When I could afford it I gave him a subscription.
Fancy razors, ginger candy, maple leaves candy,
Gift cards to his favorite local coffee place.
Cookies, I baked just for him,
Silly small toys, I have found..
A rubber band ball for his desk. Or something for his desk he will actually use.
Maybe a DVD of a movie or show he liked.. and a a gift card to our favorite local movie theater (they serve beer and real food while you watch the movie).
Wow. Now I feel behind. Still working on the Halloween costumes for this year.
I refuse to "do" a holiday until it's the NEXT holiday that's approaching.
For him...
- I had his father's navy hat framed with a picture of his dad in full uniform. He'll love it.
- Socks and undies (tradition)
- clothing
- magazine renewal
- stocking: chapstick, gum, new pens for his desk at work, some little gadgety thing my mom finds, candy, playing cards
My son:
- really wants a remote control car
- Lion King DVD (we don't own this one and he's been asking about it)
We are debating on whether or not to purchase a tablet as a family gift. We'll see. My husband tends to way over-think this type of purchase and not do it.
R.:
Don't try and top it - do from the heart....
Bob usually gets chap stick, toberlone and little tool things...
I found a pair of the tech-gloves so when he is outside and working on his laptop, his hands won't freeze!! Not sure what else is going in it...
Santa always brings everyone in the family toothbrushes and oranges! Other gifts too, but those are the staples!
Hubby always gets chocolate...he loves it and I swear he would be THRILLED if it was the ONLY thing he got! =)
