What Size for My Toddler?

I have a GREAT deal on some nice clothes (Gymboree)for my 17 month old daughter and want to make a large purchase to cover all her needs for this winter. I just don't know what size pants to buy... how quick could she grow?

The sizes at the store are
18-24 month - height of 31-33 in
2T - height of 33-36 in

Right now she is barely 31 inches tall. Is it likely that she would grow to be more than 33 inches between now and spring? I have no idea how quick they grow at this stage. I could possibly tack up the pants- but they are all leggings (I'm getting ready to potty train and want it to be easy for her) and would look wadded up if I hemmed them. She is a bit short in the legs and hasn't seemed to grow much lately so I am afraid she is going to just shoot up one day and won't fit into anything.

What would you do?

What can I do next?

I've never been any good at this. Mainly because sizes in different brands don't match up well. Target stuff is cut a little narrower and shorter, Baby Gap is long and narrow, Gymboree is big all over. Old Navy seems to be the truest fit we've come across for mine. So, I gave up and just buy clothes when we need them. :-)

Note that 24-month typically has "diaper room" in the bottom area. 2T will be a little narrower, and longer.

If you are hoping for winter wear, then 18-24 months should work. Gymboree actually tends to run big in my opinion (or rather true to size, and everythign else runs small:) My son was for sure in 2T-3T clothes at Target etc, but at gymboree he still needed smaller. Side note, if you get her potty trained this young, could you please come to my house and train mine too!! hehe. My son is just over 2, and I cant even imagine the joy of him being potty trained:) Good luck to you, and have fun..she is at a great age! ~A.~

I would say 18-24mos for Gymboree, but for the rest I would choose the 2T. My daughter sounds like you little one when it comes to her size. She's 2.5 and she is still wearing most of her 2Ts from last year and I'm starting to my 3T because she starting to get tall, but the pants are still a little big in the waist. I just make minor adjustments.

I would stick with the 18-24 mo. My son is 2.5 and just starting to wear 2T.

My oldest grew from 33 inches at her 18 month appt to 36 1/4 at her 2 yo appt. Thank God it happened during the summer. I would go longer but that's just my opinion. Good Luck.
