it's the same. In the hospital, they're going to have a/c and everything, you're going to want him warm and swaddled.
Hi moms! I am due to have a scheduled C section next week. My son was a November so the change in seasons is throwing me off a bit. While in the hospital with my son, we swaddled him and he wore a onesis and I believe only a diaper. Have you had a baby recently and if so, what did the baby wear in the hospital? I am trying to get ready. I know they will provide stuff but if my memory is correct I brought newborn diapers and a few newborn shirts (to not cover the umbilacord). We will be there at least 4 days so I want to be prepared. Your thoughts?

The hospital will supply the diapers. When I had my daughter last August, I brought a few baby gowns. They have the open bottom making it easier to change diapers. The hospital did supply a onsie and blankets, but with everyone visiting we decided to dress her in the baby gown (I brought 2 of the gowns and then a short/long sleeve onsie and pants to bring her home in) Good luck and Congrats!
Hi J. ~
I'm an OB nurse, so can tell you that the baby will have a diaper (provided by the hospital), t-shirt (also provided), and receiving blanket while at the hospital. Babies really only need a light layer more than we do to be comfortable. The first few hours we want to make sure the baby regulates it's temperature, but should be fine with those things. The typical hospital stay for a c-section is 2-3 days.
Good Luck!

hospitals typically provide everything and the temp in your room can be raised... When you leave you get to take the diapers that they did not use... You already paid for them and do not get discounts for leaving them. I would call and ask just in case... Take an outfit to take pics and take baby home in and a blanket incase its chilly. :-)
My hospital provides everything. They have blankets, shirts that stop short of the belly button and diapers. You should be able to control the temp in your room also. If it makes you comfortable, bring a couple things from home.
With both my daughters the hospital provided clothing for them to wear, so it was a non issue. However if you want to dress your baby bring stuff in two pieces so its easy to access the baby for the hospital staff.
Both of my kids were born in July. I only brought a single onesie and a lightweight blanket to the hospital for when we took them home. Otherwise, the hospital provided long sleeved t-shirts, diapers, and receiving blankets and that is all the baby wore while we were there. The only difference between my first and second babies was that Beaumont now has a service taht will come into your room and do a full photo shoot of your newborn before you leave (instead of the basic, traditional newborn picture) - so they suggest that you bring an outfit that you'd want your baby photographed in (and I think they allow older siblings in the picture if you want as well).
My sons were May and July babies. I brought long sleeved newborn t-shirts and also a few short sleeved tees plus a couple pairs of pants just in case the room was chilly. (Some hospitals really crank the a/c and others can be quite stuffy so I wanted to be prepared.) For the most part, I remember having them in just a diaper and t-shirt and then wrapped them in a blanket.
Congrats and best wishes! :)
I didn't bring anything - the hospital where I birthed had the newborn kimono shirts, newborn diapers, and swaddling blankets. Maybe call to see what they provide.
The baby will wear a onsie T-shirt, diaper, and will be swaddled. I had a July baby last year and I have had an August baby. Good Luck with your c-section.
The hospital will provide everything and the air will also be on, so it will be pretty chilly in the room.
In the hospital the hospital has them in onsies and a blanket you don't want to dress them till they go home because the nurses n dr. need to be able to check the baby and do there things. the nurses there will take the baby for tests n vitals and also will washing the baby and stuff for you. you only need to change and feed the baby. I wouldn't worry about what to put on the baby for on the way home. Which should be a onsie and a sleeper of somesort till you get home and see how warm n cold the baby is with the temp changes. Babies get cold fast. they need to keep a normal temp. Thats one reason why there not allowed in the pool until after 6 month of age.
The hospital should supply you with everything that you need. I had my son last August and although it was hot outside it was always kept cool in the hospital. They supplied us with short sleeve and long sleeve onsesies and plenty of blankets to swaddle him in. They also supplied us with diapers and formula and everything else. I'm pretty sure this is common practice in most hospitals but you might want to check just to be sure. I brought an outfit for him to go home in and another outfit or two because I thought I would want to put him in his cute clothes there but I never did it. LOL Congrats to you!!
The only thing I would add to these wonderful responses is to make sure whatever you bring to take your newborn home in will be something that will be comfortable in a 5-point harness...you can't swaddle in a car seat, so bring something with pants. I had an August baby and we had the equivalent of a long-sleeved onesie with footed pants. It was in the 80's but we adjusted the AC to as cool as the hospital for the drive home.
all you need for the baby is an outfit to go home in. you shouldn't even need diapers. our nurse even sent us home with extra diapers, etc. i've seen people take their babies home in the hospital receiving blanket, although i'm not sure if you're supposed to! i remember using little besides my toothbrush that i had brought from home.
just make sure to have your car seat base properly latched into your vehicle and bring the car seat!
I had my 4th child in May. I only brought clothes for the day we went home. All of my children stayed in the hospital supplied shirts and diapers until the day we went home. I didn't bring diapers or wipes with me. the hospital supplied those while we were there. I did bring a receiving blanket for the day we went home. Of course, we were only there for two days (heck, after my first one they kicked me out after 24, ready or not. I was not physically ready to go but, that was policy back then.)
