You might be able to do anything well and with more pay if you lived in another area. Can you relocate?
I need a good paying career. I have a medical assistant degree but i havent used it in over 4 yrs. I was only making $12.50 an hr when i did. So i need a job that will support myself and 3 kids.
I was looking into dental hygenist, but i read that maybe there arent so many jobs available. Also there is only one school in my area that offers the program. And they only accept 24 students a yr. It could take up to 4 yrs to get in. sigh
Anyone know anything about it?
Or have any other suggestions of jobs that are abundant and pay well.
I know nursing is really good and i have considered that as well. But i dont think im really cut out to wipe adult butts. I think i'd throw up.
I will go to school or work my way to the top. I'll do whatever it takes but wipe adult butt. lol

Wow! I'm hoping you don't go into anything dealing with people; sounds like you're into any job just for the money! And "wiping adult butts" as you call it is only done by very caring and dedicated people; something you certainly don't aspire to be!!! I hope you don't run into "you" when you're old and needing your "adult butt" wiped!!!
I just got my cna and yes I have to wipe adult butts.. but that is such a SMALL part of the job!
As a cna my job includes helping the elderly shower, get dressed, eat, yes wipe their butts, but more importantly I get to sit and visit with them and listen to their stories, I'm there to hug them and wipe tears when they are missing someone. I'm able to make sure the last years of their life are filled to the best possible way when their family isn't able to be there with them all the time. You get to know the people on a personal level and I can only hope that I have been able to touch their hearts the same way they have touched mine.
I have one more course to take and then I'm able to work with the people who have alzheimer's and dementia ( what I really want to do).
With a cna the money isn't going to be there right away but unless you choose to stay at a cna the only way you can go is up in nursing, taking the classes when you have the money and your life allows the time for extra schooling. You will already have your foot in the door for that choice.
But the pay offs you get from this job is so rewarding money can't touch it! ( For me anyways)
BTW if you have ever changed a toddlers diaper that isn't your own childs then yes you can handle changing an adult. You may gag once in a while but you do that with toddlers also. This isn't a choice they make or want to do either. Most are very embarrassed about it.
Whoa...take a minute and re-read your post.
Every positive idea is immediately followed by an negative thought:
"I have a degree in...."
"BUT I haven't used it in 4 years and I was only making..."
I was looking into dental hygienist..."
"BUT I read that maybe...."
"I know nursing is really good..."
"But I don't think I'm cut out to..."
You want something easy, fast, abundant and high paying? Good luck!
I would look into nursing if I were you...there has to be more avenues in this field than one that would have you "butt-wiping".
LOL I asked the saaame question forever ago ;)
Only having lost my job of 3 years yesterday, I better figure it out REAL quick.
Take your time in deciding, you'd hate to waste time and money on something you're not passionate about!
Occupational therapy? My SIL does this and absolutely loves her job, and it pays well. The only thing she ever complained about was that one of the courses in her studies required working on a corpse. It's one of the top careers. If you are looking in medical, you could do something relating to rehab. You might also look on the website of your local hospital's career section to see what types of jobs they are advertising.
Good luck
Sonography pays very well and is in demand. They do sonograms on pregnant moms, and heart patients. The program in our area is extremely difficult to get into. But, check in your area.
What worked for me was to get an insurance license. If you are a licensed agent, you will never be out of work and the hours are great. I make more money with this $65 license than I did with my $60,000 college degree. Insurance Adjusters make crazy bank too. I don't do that because there can be travel involved.
Anything in the medical field these days is hot.
Even working the front desk, or billing, etc.
Once your "in", you would be privy to other spots that might seem more like your gig. You gotta get "in" first and make your choices later.
On the ladder, you always have to start on the bottom rung.
