What Product Do You Use to Protect Your Hair When You Use a Flat Iron?

It would be better if I could find an economical option. I'm sure I'd love the Aveda products, which is what my sister uses. But they're more than I'd like to pay right now. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I use the Sally products from Sallys beauty store, really inexpensive and I like it better than the Chi flat iron products. I have used it for about 3 years now.

I know you said Aveda is out of your price range but the HANG STRAIGHT from Aveda is really good. You only have to use a nickle size and it lasts forever. Trust me I don't like those prices either but you get what you pay for in hair care. Avoid products with alcohol or parabens...they are just plain bad. I've used the Hang Straight for along time. The other product I like is the control freak green gel from Tony and Guy. I'm hit or miss on their products as they use lots of parfum and parabens in their products which are not good for you but the control freak gel is good and works. you only have to use a little. i have tons of natural curl and both of these products seems to do well. I wash, towel dry, put on the product, quick dry the roots and they try to blow it out with a brush then I use the flat iron. at the end I put on some spray gloss or pomade...but very little so it doesn't look greasy.

I use BioSilk Silk Therapy. Its kinda expensive around 12-14 for little bottle, but you only use a dime size amount, so it'll last forever... I bought it this time at CVS.

I have a 13 yr old who flat irons a lot. She uses products from Ulta. The staff can guide you to the right product for you. That is where I buy all of our hair products.

My daughter (1/2 Italian and 1/2 American Indian)uses the flat iron on a regular basis, I have naturally straight hair (American Indian heritage) that dries straight so I do not have to use any product.

Ulta has Great products! Good luck!
