We live in Tacoma, Parkland area. My daughter will be 4 this summer and i am looking for advice on preschools for her to start in next school year. So, what preschool does your child attend, do you love it? do you wish they did more with the kids? Is there any preschool you had a bad experience with? Please let me know. Also if you could let me know the cost, i have no idea what it costs to go to preschool.
I'm not sure i could do a co-op as i have a younger son, and i don't think they can come along.
Thanks, Hillari

Hi H.,

Here is a great website that might be a useful tool is your search: www.greatschools.net . You plug in your area, and it shows you all kinds of school profiles and you can read comments about the schools from parents. My own daughter goes to a co-op school, which we love, but it's not for everyone. We do have kids as young as 18 months in our co-op. If you have any questions, email me.

Hope this is useful, good luck!

My son goes to Graham Emmanuel Bptist Preschool. It's on 224th and close to Meridian in Graham. It costs only $100 a month and the teachers are wonderful! It might be a bit of a drive for you, but I live in Spanaway by Pioneer Valley Elementary and it only takes me 8 minutes to get there. They have a morning class and an afternoon class. they will be staring open enrollment in February. We love them and so does my son! They are very patient and kind. Always have something good to say about your child, even when they have done something wrong. I have seen Garrett change already since the beginning of the year and he is starting to do really well. You have to know that he is a tough kid to handle sometimes. He is very bright and gets bored easily. He is very strong willed and I worried that he would be in trouble every day, but the teachers are so loing and working with him on things like sitting still and being nice to our friends. I looked into New Hope Christian School and Cascade Christian school and they are both a lot more expensive! Anyways, that's my 2 cents. We love it and, if you are a Christian, can be sure that they will learn about God as well at Graham Emmanuel Baptist Preschool! Good Luck! I know the first one is a tough decision. i am struggling with what to do about Kindergarten now!

You should check into co-op preschools. The parents really get involved there, the kids have a blast, and they are normally cheaper than the others. My son does not go to a co-op, and I really love his pre-school (was #2 last year in "best of Federal Way, Kent, DesMoines, Auburn, Northeast Tacoma"), but it costs more, and the parents are not as involved as they are at a co-op.

My son goes to preschool at franklin pierce over at PLU. I like it a lot, he really likes his teacher and he seems to be picking up on things quickly. They have morning and afternoon classes. I don't pay anything, as it is based on your income. Meals are free and transportation is taken care of as well. If you would like to call them, the # is ###-###-####. Its a half-day mon-thur thing and its not a co-op, since I work full time that's not an option for me. If you are able, a co-op might be a good idea for you, but I do personally feel that children sometimes learn and cooperate better when their parents are not around. Good for you for starting her early, its one of the best things you could do.
