Mi mommas,
Mi son is 8 months old, almost 9 months (dec. 22). I was wondering what I shouldn't be feeding him? I know not fo feed him junk food and peanut butter, and obviously not anything that would cause him to choke. What are good things to feed him, minus jars of baby food/formula? :) THanks!!

Instead of listing all the things you can try, I just want to say:
NO HONEY!!
I avoided offering shrimp and shellfish since there are alot of allergies to those in our family.
I also introduce strews at 9 months. Time to get them tasting meat, but in an almost baby food texture. Soup too. Mushroom, potato, chicken noodle (blended).
I second wholesomebaby.
Fresh mashed avocado and banana are great. No nuts, no berries, no honey. It's a great age to start working on his fine motor skills. Use the puffs that dissolve (you can get some organic ones at Whole Foods), and break them up even smaller to start with, put them on his tray and work with him on learning to pick them up and eat them. Baby yogurt is great at this age too.
Just no honey. That's it. Try everything else, he will like lots of things that will surprise you.
He should be able to eat what you eat. Just make sure what you give him is soft enough to chew easily and very small pieces. No nuts and be careful of food that may be too spicy. Other then that this is when they can taste different things. I would always give my daughter different veggies and she still likes them. (she is 5).
My daughter refused baby food at 8 months so I know all about this! ;) Pretty much you nailed the basics on what not to eat but otherwise everything else is fair game! I cut up everything in little pieces and that kid would literally eat everything I put in front of her! She loved lunch meat! You can get nitrate free varities at Super Target, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe's. I also got a lot of mileage out of frozen veggies. Peas, carrots and green beans were the favorites, but everything works well. I'd steam a whole bag and then cool it and refreeze it into ziplocks. Then I'd just defrost a small serving in the microwave for lunch or dinner. It only takes like 20 seconds so it was great.
Of course all kinds of fruit are good, waffles, crackers, bagels, dry cereals...I even made oatmeal with just a little bit of water and then put it in small hunks on the tray and both my kids loved that. Cheese is also easy. I would cut small slices of string cheese or break up slices.
I looked at wholesomebabyfood a lot too and found it to be helpful, probably more helpful when I was making purees, but overall very helpful!
Lol My first thought was.... socks!! Hope you ladies and dads got a chuckle for the day.
Looks like everyone else has great answers.
Nothing he will choke on! Nothing too hard. No honey they say. No shellfish yet (allergies issues) or peanut products (allergies again). We gave our kids pretty much anything we were eating...just as long as it was in tiny pieces or mashed up. My son was weird about textures and gagged at a lot at first. He is still really picky about textures. My daughter loved everything and still loves everything.
