Hello Ladies, I would love to show my daughter and husband some of Chicagoland's beautiful Christmas-lit neighborhoods, but am not sure where the best are. I live in the northwest suburbs. Any suggestions for what neighborhoods of what towns to drive around to see nice Christmas lights? Thanks!

In Des Plaines, there's a neighborhood where most of the houses put out 4' candy canes. They call it Candy Cane Land. It's bordered by Algonquin to the sourth, Dempster on the north, Wolf on the east, and Mount Prospect Road to the west.

If you are willing to drive over to Elgin/South Elgin, there are two awesome displays there that are worth the drive. One is on Foxmore Ln. They have it listed (on that Chicagoland site) as a normal display but I don't agree. Almost everyone on the block participates and the two houses on the corner are worth the drive itself. There's also another one nearby that one. Go east on Hopps (from Foxmore). Turn right(south)on McLean. Take a left on N. Lancaster Circle and a right on Juniper Ln. Juniper has a great display where nearly the whole block participates. Have fun!
Vernon Hills winter wonderland you have to see that! MUST SEE

normally, Magnolia Pointe in S Barrington (behind Goebbert's Farm) has incredible lights. It appears so far this year, NOBODY (except one or 2) decorated :(
so don't waste your time there
There's a great neighborhood in Bloomingdale that's been in the newspaper before. It's off of Schick, about a half mile or so west of Bloomingdale Road (south side of the street). I don't know the name of the subdivision, but there's a big pond when you pull in that reflects lights off of the big lit-up houses. It's really pretty. There's one house in there with a big window that they do up really nicely. I love to go see lights too- can't wait to hear advice from others. Have fun!
Since I'm horrible with North, South, East and West...I have no idea where you live. But I live in Huntley and I can tell you that there is a really great street in S. Elgin off off Umdenstock (is that how you spell that word).

It lists a bunch of places that have good light displays. The one in S Elgin that we always go to collects non-perishable food for a food pantry. It is super cool.
We always go to the Cuneo Museum in Vernon Hills. You have to pay something to get in but it's per carload I believe. You drive through the Cuneo Museum grounds in a parade like fashion. My kids love it because along with the traditional decorations, there are many cartoon characters on display. You can also tune in your radio to a station that they have posted and listen to Christmas music. Every direction you look, there is something to see. I think it's worth the admission fee. It is behind Hawthorne Center Mall (Westfield shopping center now) and there are signs posted along Milwaukee (21) and Rt. 60 Townline Road. I'm sure you can google it and get a number to check the hours of operation and the fee for this year.
