Ladies...a little while ago I asked a question about slings vs. carriers based on the great responses you ladies gave me I'm going to start with a sling and then buy a carrier once DS2 gets bigger. Sooooo....my next question is what kind of sling should I buy? I know Mobie wraps are very popular nut I read that they can be hard to get on and off. I looking for wrap that's easy to use and get the baby in and out? Thanks for the advice!

What can I do next?

I tried the moby (found it very frustrating and difficult to get adjusted "just right") and I have tried pocket slings (LOVE the concept and simplicity, but not adjustable enough to deal with my large chest, even after trying several sizes and brands). I went with the ring sling. Easy to use, adjustable, lots of carrying positions. I now use my ergo, but I keep the ring sling in my car in case I forget the ergo. Not as comfy now that the baby is bigger, but still better than a bjorn type carrier or juggling baby, bags, and keeping a hand free for the toddler :)

A ring sling will be most flexible and is generally easy to use. Check out the Seattle Area Babywearing Network on yahoo groups. They have a meeting coming up soon and can show you how to use about any carrier you'd ever be interested in.

I used a ring sling with two, soon to be three children. Once you get the hang of it it's easy to use and can be used anywhere from newborn, to hold baby right in front of you up to toddler to hold on your hip. It's also great for breastfeeding in public so nobody can see anything.

I had the unpadded and padded. They are way better than ring slings. You measure your body and order it to fit you. They always fit, can carry them many different ways, fold up small for your bag. I carried my son in the unpadded when he was smaller and then the padded one when he got bigger for extra padding behind his legs. I carried him until he was 2.5 years old in it.

Why buy two? The Ergo Baby carrier is amazing and works from newborn up to 40 lbs.

I heard great things about the moby, my sister loved it. However if you are plus sized or have big boobs the moby wrap is not for you. I am plus sized and I have big boobs and I had a hard time getting the wrap all the way around my body. If you are average size go for it.

I'd loved my Mei Tai wrap when my baby was little. Moby was my favorite around the house, but the Mei Tai worked great for trips to the grocery and running around town. It's quick and easy to tie on and is very comfortable. It just folds up nicely and fits into a diaper bag very easily too. You can order them on the internet and can even select your own fabric. Just do a google for Mei Tai. Congrats!

Hi! I use a Moby wrap and I love it! It is not that hard to get on and off once you get the hang of it. I can get baby in it in only a couple minutes, and out just as fast. The only thing that I don't like about it, is that it is getting too hot to use it as a carrier for walks, unless I go in the evening. But since most places have AC I still use it in stores etc...Also, the Moby wrap can be used up to like 35 lbs or something, and has different ways to wrap different aged kids.
I also have a carrier type front pack that I may use once my son gets older, he is only 5 weeks. But that is another thing, I could use the Moby when he was only a few weeks old, where as I felt like he would fall out of the front pack carrier, or just wouldn't sit right, with the Moby their legs are curled up like they are in the womb, not stretched out through leg holes, as in the front pack.
Anyway, That is my two sense :) Good luck in your research and decision :)

I used a Maya ring sling and loved it...it's also great as they do not out grow it. We were carrying around our 2 yr old supported on our hip but able to have our hands free. Great sling. I just sold mine to a new mom of a 1 mth old at my garage sale by putting it on her and she saw that her hands were free and the baby was safe. :) Congrats on your new baby!
