I will be shopping for new mattresses in the next couple months. King size for me and queen for my daughter. I dont have a whole lot of money for mattresses. I want a good quality, comfortable mattresses that will last. As comfy as pillow tops look, I probably wont go that route because I wouldnt be able to flip them. What kind do you have, where did you buy it, what was the price range, and what advice can you give me on buying mattresses.

What can I do next?

We just bought a serta perfect sleeper, king size, at Mattress Warehouse for $800 with the boxspring. After pricing around, that was the best mattress for the price. It's a $1300 mattress on sale, WOO HOO! I'm loving it. I haven't woken up with any back pain since we got it :)

The downside... this mattress has a 'life' of about 5-10 years, which is on the low end (most last 10-20 years)... BUT the good thing is, it has a 10 year warranty... if we are sinking more than and inch into it, they'll replace it for free :)

spend at least 30 minutes on any mattress you're considering buying before you buy it.

we went with Mattress King's store brand "tempurpedic" style mattress.
I love it and have never slept better.

Best wishes!

I have been wanting so badly to get a Sleep Number bed. Those things are amazing! You can adjust how firm, or soft you want it with a remote. It is a bed of air chambers so no springs which is nice. I have friends who have them and I have laid on them and very comfortable. They have a 20 year warranty and run about $800-$2000 depending on which model you get.

I saved up and got a natural latex mattress. Expensive, but this foam is both soft AND supportive, and with reasonable protection against sweat and body oils, are guaranteed to last at least 20 years.

My husband needs a firm mattress for his back, while I need a soft mattress for tender hips and shoulders. The support we get from this mattress works perfectly for both of us. We had to get a prescription so that we could have this chemical-free option, but it's so much healthier than being exposed every night to fire retardants.

I was going to say a pillow top. We haven't had any issues with not flipping it. It's been five years and is still as comfy! :-) We just went to some local bed store. Can't remember where.

Google "mattress forum"--there is a TON of info/advice/recommendations/complaints on there. It was very helpful to me when we were mattress shopping several months ago. We went with LATEX and we are EXTREMELY satisfied!!!!!! We purchased from flo-beds.com (kind of pricey but very high quality.) Good luck!

I can whole heartedly tell you that I felt the same about not being able to flip... I was proven wrong. : )

I am a bed SNOB. Most people are no where near as picky as I am.

The most recent mattress purchase I made was a Sleep to Live Queen.

I bought mine at Art Van and got a TV with it. Mattress and Box Spring combo with a 50" plasma flat screen, and a frame with headboard and footboard cost us $2800 before taxes.

If I remember correctly, the mattress and box spring by themselves were $1600.
They do have less expensive models then I bought, but I couldn't be happier.
