So What Happened?

so i left out a big part i guess....i placed my son for adoption when i glave birth to him. it was really hard on me and i guess that is why im so worried about being bregnant right now. i did not breast feed with him., i tried my hardest not to get my milk in. so i am a birth mom, but this would be my first reall child.

I agree with Tamara, really don't want to be judgemental but please if you're not pregnant right now do something to prevent future pregnancies until your settled and are living in a more stable situation. If you indeed are pregnant please do some soul searching about your life and how do you see yourself in the future and the future of your child.
You said yourself you gave birth recently and placed that baby for adoption because of your situation, after all that you went through you don't want to end up in the same situation twice!

It's completely normal for your period to be off whack after you have a baby. Are you breastfeeding? If so, it may be affecting your period. Some women don't have periods until they stop breastfeeding. This is kind of rare, but normal.

It is really important to be on birth control after birth if you don't want another baby so fast! You are extremely fertile after birth and can get pregnant like a finger snap.

Since you said you don't have health insurance, you can go to planned parenthood. They are not just for abortions. You can go there for check ups and if you think something is wrong too. I go there for my yearly GYN visit and get my birth control there too. They do everything on a sliding scale and an exam costs $60. Birth control is like $20-$30 a month and they have lots of different options if you don't want to take a pill every day.

I know, personally, that $60 can be A LOT of money to drop on an exam you don't even want, but it is the cheapest option for women, like us, who don't have health insurance.

And you really really need to be on birth control if you don't want another baby so soon! At least use condoms or something!

But if you do want another a baby all the more power to you! I think moms who have two in diapers are so brave! It is hard work and I have a lot of respect for any women who has the strength to raise two babies at once.

I don't think anyone can know for sure to tell you what you want. Sorry. If not, I hope it isn't hard for you to get pregnant again when you're ready. I am a bit more worried about your having a child to take care of because it costs money and it doesn't seem like you have any. If you aren't pregnant, I do hope you focus on being ready to support a baby first, car, insurance, perhaps a husband with a good job, you with a good job, etc. Whichever way it falls, god bless you.

The body goes through all kinds of hormonal changes after giving birth. If you aren't getting a + test by 7 days late, it's unlikely you are pregnant. I'm guessing you haven't ovulated which can be hormonal or stress-related.
Start charting your fertility so you don't have to worry whenever your period is a couple days late. You'll know if there's any possibility of being pregnant before you even miss your period.

Planned Parenthood. They do pee, blood and the fees are on a sliding scale. They do all forms of women care, paps, pelvic exams, birth control and penancy testing. It's really a great place. It gets a bad rap for the other services they sometimes preform. BUT. . it's quality care and they are experts. They dont ask to show proof of your income, get checked out. fees are from ZERO to whatever they post for the amount you SAY you bring in monthly. Your health is important.

I first want to commend you for doing something very very hard, which is to give up your child for adoption. Do you want to be pregnant? Not pregnant? I think you need to go to Planned Parenthood or some other type of non-profit to get some counseling to deal with you feelings of giving up your baby and also you future plans. Of course, they can help you medically as well. It sounds like this is really weighing on you. Good luck.

I am a little confused! How recently did you have a baby? Anything is possible! But if you just gave a baby up for adoption recently why would you not use contraceptives to prevent another pregnancy? I dont want to sound disrespectful or anything and excuse me if i did, but knowing what you just went through and knowing how hard it was, why would you want to put yourself through that agin. You also have no insurance and on that topic, why dont you apply for the state insurance? Prgenant or not, everyone should have ins. good luck

hi

there are actually many labs that will DO a blood test for cheap..
Econolabs is one of them. google online for an inexpensive lab near you.
example as to how inexpensive they are.. HOSPITAL labs charge nearly 600 bucks.... yes.. that much.. whereas I went to one of these NON hospital labs... and it was more like 80...... yep that much of a difference.
however, you will need a doc to write the prescription for the blood test. perhaps you can call your doc to do that.. ?
additionally, you neednt pay those high prices for pregnancy tests and or ovulation kits.. . because you can buy the pregnancy strips online that are sooooooooooooo much cheaper... again, google and you will see...
Also, yes you can in fact have pregnancy like symptoms and not be pregnant..... it could just be premenstrual.. some will contest that they too get much bloating and feel like they are pregnant, not to mention, cycles change as we get older...
good luck

Macy,
I understand the anxiety that comes with trying to find out whether you are or not pregnant. I usually thinks that pregnancy is something that will come out no matter what; In my culture of birth, a woamn does not reveal her pregnancy until after 12 weeks, when she is sure that it is real. I would suggest that you stay calm, do not stress yourself out, wait for 2 or more weeks for another test. There are offices that offer free pregnancy testing. You can google it online (Free pregnancy test and put your state or city and zip code). The stress is not a good begin and if you just wait a little more weeks, you will know for sure.
Good luck

try getting a blood test. Blood tests are 100% knowing or not knowing. With the Army when I found out last August I was pregnant through a home pregnancy test I had to make an appointment where they drew my blood to make a positive match that I was pregnant. Sure enough I was. So try and get a blood test done. Some pregnancy test won't pick up your HCG hormones because they might be to low or your taking the test at the wrong time. Best time to take a pregnancy test is first thing in the morning. I know how you feel, I think I am pregnant again too, and I had my Son March 31st lol, but I am going to wait until my period is supposed to come. I am also on birth control but have only been on it a week and half.
Good luck. :)

I agree with the other moms that you should try Planned Parenthood. Also, as crazy as it sounds, there is such a thing called "hysterical pregnancy". It is not a very nice term, and it certainly does not mean you are "hysterical". What is does mean is that sometimes when you are going through a traumatic or stressful time, such as recently giving your baby up for adoption, your body can mimic a real pregnancy. You are going through a difficult time, and your body is reacting to it. See if there is someone who can give you a ride to the closest Planned Parenthood. They can help give you some peace of mind. Best of luck to you.
