Okay, so I checked all over the internet to see if I could spare you lovely ladies from my woe. No success. SO, it looks like I have gray skin under my arms. I scrub and shave and scrub, and it doesn't change. Shaven clean as can be, and still appears like I haven't shaved. This hasn't bothered ME, until today when my husband told me it looked like I had one of the kids in a head-lock. I JUST Shaved ThiS MORNING! This is the second time he's said something to that effect. Does anyone else have this problem or know what it is? I feel insecure now about wearing tanks, and I am in my last month of pregnancy (very warm!) thanks!

What can I do next?

First advice: kick your husband. LOL just kidding (unless you wnst to!). Men see the perfect models with perfect armpits and think everyone should look that way (same with cellulite... But I digress). You didn't mention your ethnicity, but I am Latina and it is very common with darker skinned women. My mother and sisters have the same issue. I have had this since I was about 12, and when I started shaving it didn't help. I am very self conscience about my underarms and will not lift them if I am wearing a shirt that will show it off. Also you didn't mention if this just started with this pregnancy. It that case it is probably hormones. You might want to mention it to your doctor and see if he knows.
There's a product that Latina magazine mentioned that my friend tried and said it worked, but I'm sorry I can't remember the name. You might want to look on their website. Also I looked at the website that was mentioned on a reply, and there's not too many remedies, mostly people asking for help. But I'm gonna try a couple and I will let you know if I have success. Good luck and tell me if you find what works too!

Perhaps instead of scrubbing and exfoliating, you should try heavily moisturizing the skin under your arms. I'm imagining it is similar to the ashy color you get around your knees, toes and elbows - which is dry skin? Maybe you could try some coconut oil or olive oil at night. If you can get away with it, it might help to use it in the morning too.

Maybe try waxing? I think that pulls up the root, so you would lose the "5 o'clock shadow". And tell your husband to stop teasing you--he probably doesn't realize that he's giving you a complex. Go ahead and wear the tank tops--NOTHING is worth suffereing through being hot and pregnant...my son was born at the end of August, so I know all about how awful it can be! Comfort is the most important thing!!!

I am not a doctor, but I have my own issues with my under arms. What I have been told in the past is that I have Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. This causes dark pigmentation under my arms, my neck area, and my groin. See your doctor to find out if this might be the problem. In the mean time try soaking in a hot tub and scrub the area when the skin is very moist.

You know, I have the same exact issue. My armpits are always gray in color even if I do shave. I'm not sure what it is either. My husband has questioned it as well. So, sorry I don't have any advice, but just wanted to let you know that you're not alone! Let me know if you discover anything.
