What Is the Going Rate for a Mother's Helper

This is just a base to go from: My SIL pays $3 per kid per hour for her babysitter ($9/hour for three kids). I think that is a bit on the high end. In another situation, I get paid $30/day for an 8 hour shift watching one boy. Babysitting is and always will be an underpaid job.

As for a mother's helper, I would think that $2.00/hour is appropriate and you provide snacks/meals for your helper. You are providing her training for babysitting, and you are there to assist with the kids. If she does a good job, you'll know that you can count on her for babysitting jobs when she's a little older.

I am not sure what your situation is,
BUT
If you are a SAHM I would suggest sort of a barter option, Where you care for someone's 13 year old child in exchange for help around the house.

What I mean is perhaps there is a mom in the neighborhood who has to work and wants to know her child is being taken care of.

Each day she comes over you have her do a set amount of tasks such as dishes, laundry ,take out garbage, and sweep the floor. After that her day is her own. you pay her 10 dollars a day. or 50 dollars per week.

THEN when you need help at the beach , park or what have you she is there to help.

AND in return your helping both her and her mom.

I have a friend with a 14 yr old Mother's Helper and she get $5/hr. I would imagine you would need to pay the 17 yr old more, not sure on that one. It's amazing - I think I made $5/hr as a high school and college age sitter! I hope this helps:)
