I have a Phillips I purchased at Wal-mart and it is great! It is definitely a lifesaver in the car. It has a great picture and sound...a pretty good battery life also.
I am looking for a portable DVD player to buy for car trips with the kids to keep them occupied. I have a couple of car trips coming up and I thought it would be nice for them and maybe provide me with a little peace. I would rather have a portable DVD player than one installed in my car because I think it would get more use. Thanks for all your input in advance.

We bought this one and LOVE it....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=19...
I think the guy has them listed all the time.
I am not sure how old your kids are, but did you want to buy two seperate ones or just one? My mother bought us a dual screen dvd player for Christmas. It is made my Mustek and she bought it at Sam's Club. It think it was only 150.00. You can go online and just type in Mustek dual screen dvd player Sams Club and it will come up to purchase it. If you just go online at Sam's Club you will not find it not sure why. The kids love it and it works great. You can also buy an extended warranty for under $15.00 that last for 3 years. Great buy just incase something does go wrong. I think they might also sell them at Target if you need it right away.
I can tell you which one not to buy. I got a polaroid one at Wal-Mart. The first one never worked at all. I took it back to the store and go another one. The next one,the same polaroid,I have had for less than 2 yrs. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
The 10 inch screen from Audiovox...can plug cable into it, can plug video games into it, dvds, cds, etc.
I bought the cheapest (it was $60) one that wal-mart had and a case to strap on the back of my seat at the black Friday sale 2006. It still works, beautifully, and I love it.
