What Is Maternal Acupressure?

I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and I have heard that maternal acupressure can induce labor. Both of my other pregnancies have gone to thier due date but they've been 9 1/2 lb. babies. Its getting harder on my body with each pregnancy and I just want a nice 7 pounder. So does acupressure really work, and does anyone know how to do it?

What can I do next?

There are 4 acupuncture points that can be used to help induce labor. Putting pressure on these points can help stimulate labor as well, but to a lesser extent. You may want to have an acupuncture treatment along with advice from an acupuncturist or naturopathic doctor on natural ways to induce labor when the time is right.

acuupressure certainly does work, there is quite a science behind it too. I have a friend that had acupressure and accupuncture treatments to help induce her. She was 9 days over due. She finally went into labor. The midwife was no longer able to do a home birth since she was so long over- due. So we accompianied her to the hospital and stayed with her thru her long labor. The Docs were threatening a C-section until finally she dialated very quickly and gave birth vaginally to the largest baby in (10 years) delivered vaginally at that hospital! The Drs and Nurses were amazed! The midwife and I both believe that the accupressure and accupuncture treatments had a lot to do with the outcome.

Yes it does work. It worked well with both my babies they both came about 2 weeks early. My husband is a massage therapist and knows how to do it.

Hi K.,

I'm not sure about the maternal acupressure; but I would highly advise NOT messing with nature. Babies lungs develop in the last two weeks of pregnancy and delivering early could cause lung issues, such as asthma.

Best wishes to you! :)
