Until the mid-2000's US men's tennis was dominate on the worldwide stage. Over the last 10 years there are not even one or two US players in the top ten on a consistent basis. What happened to our once dominant US tennis program?

This is a good question and one with no easy answer. I think it's partly due to the lack of interest in tennis by the general public which leads to a weak youth system and thus a weaker batch of collegiate and pro caliber players.

At the same time I think the general global competitiveness has increased at the same time creating far more parity than ever before.

Hopefully we'll see some improvement soon and be able to enjoy some American players winning the big tournaments again. It's been a long drought.
