What Happened After Our Daughters Vaccinations?????

Hi there! I truly hope no one else knows what I am talking about but if someone else has seen the same problem with their child I would love to know! Any help to put my mind at ease would be great or to get this solved!

My daughter had her 4 month shots OVER a YEAR ago! The next day we noticed the skin around the site of injection changing. Figured it was bruised. Well about a month later it was still there but looked more brown. I asked the Dr to take a look at it and she brushed it off as hyperpigmentation of the skin. I believed her for about a week.

The next week we were sitting on the couch and all of a sudden the same brown spot turned into a huge (about the size of a quarter - or the tip of my chubby pointer finger)nasty red welt with a raised whitish yellow center. It lasted about 15 mins or so then went away and was just back to being the brownish spot almost the size of a dime.

This has happened about once a week to every other week since then. She does not seem to be bothered by it but I sure am. I finally got some pics to show the DR when he comes back into town next week- but in the meantime I called the Center for Disease Control to ask about the vaccinations and they said that they have nothing on their list that would match up to this as a side effect. They suggested a dermatologist and if it was related to the vaccine to call some number to report it for future research.

I am positive it is the site where she was injected so I know it has something to do with the vaccine or the needle or who knows what...

Anyone have any ideas? Or know of a good pediatric Dermatologist in the Crystal Lake, McHenry area?
Thank you all!

So What Happened?

After calling some of the Drs that were suggested and finding that there were such long waits I called around to others. I found one with a cancelation and went there after being told he deals with Peds patients also.

He took a look and mimiced the problem with her getting welts and gave me the Dx of Mastocytosis. He wrote it down and told me to research it but not to read all the scary stuff and set me up an appt for 3 weeks later for her to have a biopsy done on it.

After researching it and me being scared silly I decided to find a specialist in Mastocytosis since it is so rare and it is life threatening. I am bringing her to Childrens of WI in Milwaukee later this week!

THank you all for your advice, it is greatly appreciated! Many blessings to you.

Sorry I don't have experience with your problem but I can recommend a good dermotologist in the area. I took my son to Dr. Khanna out of Mercy Medical Center. His main office is in Woodstock at the Medical Center across from Farm & Fleet but he also has an office in Barrington. Good luck with your daughter, hope everything is OK.

You should report it. Your doctor should have reported it when you first brought it to his/her attention.

We live in your area but went out a bit for a decent pediatric dermatologist in Park Ridge. They were hard to find and he came on the recommendation of my SIL. Dr. Lawrence Solomon, he is older and a bit eccentric but totally fantastic, worth every penny. He has fantastic bedside to ease my daughter and really knew how to help her immediately with right on diagnostic skills.
Good luck.
