I just found out I'm not supposed to eat strawberries while breastfeeding!!!
I don't recall having fresh ones lately, but I've been eating strawberry jelly practically every day! Yikes.
So what else am I not supposed to eat? I know to stay away from Tuna, raw foods, Peanuts, honey?, coffee?,
Thanks,
S.

What can I do next?

I have been eating fresh strawberries every day, sometimes twice a day since I gave birth to my daughter. Im really curious about what the danger/concern is ? please post ......most foods are fine based on the weely lactation classes I have attended since my ten month old was two months old. some babiesmay have a reaction to certain foods, just pay attention to what you ate two hours prior to your baby if she/he is super gassy/uncomfortable. limit the amount of fish u eat and stay away from the fish higher in mercury especialy shellfish. be sure salmon is wild. I have also been eating peanut butter, since allergies dont run in my family. remember to eat a variety of foods, the taste of our milk changes based on what we eat. yet another benefit of breastfeeding, babies develop their tastebuds and get used to a variety of tastes. you are doingthe best for your baby by breastfeeding ....keep up the great work mama! and please let us know what you heard about strawberries

I never heard of strawberries!
I would just go online, and do a Google search on it... I"m sure there are MANY things listed, which not everyone may know about.

For me, I also stayed away from "gassy" foods...like cabbage or beans etc. it can also make a baby gassy....

Good luck,
Susan

I think its ok to have coffee, as long as it is not right before a feeding time (baby can taste the bitterness)- maybe best to have a cup right after a feeding and wait 3-4 hours. Sometimes we just need a picker-upper ourselves to get us going in the mornings!

I stayed away from broccoli and onions (made baby gassy), canned tuna more then 1x per week (mercury levels?), anything with caffeine and (of course) alcohol. But I don't recall my Dr telling me to stay away from anything in particular - just to watch baby's reaction and adjust accordingly. Good luck and Congrats!

Hmm I have never heard of this one and I've been eating strawberries all the time. Actually I don't stay away from any food at all and so far haven't had any problems. Still breastfeeding Milan 5 times a day and she hasn't had any allergies or any weird reactions. My mom ate everything in sight while breastfeeding both me and my brother and we turned out ok so I figured I'm safe :)
