My 2 year old (just turned 2 in August...has stated refusing naps..he will stay some what quiet but just will not sleep...

Whatever shall I do...I make him stay in his room weather he sleeps or not...Just 3 days a go he was sleeping 2-4 hours for naps

My oldest is going to pre school in a couple of days...he is going for two FULL days ...they do a little nap quiet time there at 12-2...

I adjusted their schedule for naps a month before

My little two year old bugger didn't take to the adjust of the earlier resting time but my 4 year old did.... I am nervous about the two days I haveto leave at 2:45 to pick up my older boy....

What would you do in this situation?
let's assume I can get him back to napping again...shoudl i skip naps on the two days his brother is in pre school...kjdalkjdlkadlakdj

confused about scheduling

What can I do next?

I have gone through phases with both my boys of not wanting to nap. I just keep on putting them down and making them stay in bed. My now 5 yo can still take a 1.5+ hour nap, but rarely has time to sleep with Kinder schedule. My 3 yo, within the last year, also refused to nap. But I would tell him that if he didn't stay in bed quietly, I would take x aways (usually a toy he was into) and at least he staying in bed. After a while, he was back to napping!

see if you can get a nap in after you pick up his brother. It sounds like he wants to nap in the time frame in which you have to go pick up his brother.

Have him nap after your older one gets home from school.
That is what I did with my younger child.
He naps, after my girl comes home from school. UNLESS, he will take a nap in the morning.

Also, boys, need LOTS of runaround time... to physically get out their pent up energy. Doing this in the early morning, works out well for my son.

at 2 years old, they typically get sleep/nap tweaks. But not that they do 'not' need a nap. They are just changing cognitively and physically. But they are still tired... and need a nap.
My son and my daughter were that way.

all the best,
Susan

They go threw periods when they don't sleep, but just keep at it, and he will sleep again. My 2.5 year old stopped napping for a good 5 months, now she sleeps an hour a day.
