If you have a good Insurance Agent, your deductable should be 1% of the value of your home. If your deductable is 3x's more than the cost to fix the door then you dont have to go though with the claim. With every claim you file on your own policy for your property there will always be a deductable. If you dont want to pay your deductable you can tell your claims adjustor you wont be going though with the claim, he may make you put that in writing. Then you can fix the door your self and take a picture of the fixed door to give to your agent to send to your company at renewal time. You never have to follow a claim though when its your policy and your property, it's your right. Hope this helps, I do the above for a living.
