My mom always buys all of my little cousins backpacks, paper and crayons/pencils/pens for Christmas. They always seem to like them. I think it's a pretty clever idea.
Good luck.
My neices (8&5) have everything and it really makes it hard to get them something they will like and use. I always ask my sister and she says no clothes and they don't need anymore toys. I was thinking about taking them to a pottery shop as a date/gift. Any other good or unique ideas?

That happened to me with my niece so, since I sell custom photo Italian charm bracelets, I got her a bracelet with charms of milestones in her life as well as pictures of things she cherishes. I also gave her a blank starter bracelet so I can send her new charms to add to it for special occasions. I'll be happy to discuss it with you if you like. My prices are definitely better than in the malls ____@____.com
Hi J.,
One thing I did was to have their mother give me all of their old clothes that were not good enough to pass on to any one else and I made them quilted TV pillows out of them. Well when they frist opened them they did not think to much of them untill my one neice noticed that one of shrits was in it and she said "I remmeber that shirt I loved that shirt and I was said when my mom through it away." Oh I remember that & those and on and on they all went. It turned out to be a lot of fun. We got to hear stories about what they remembered doing when they were waring different things.
Good Luck
I have a sister that tells me the same thing every year...and every year I get my nephews a new toy anyway! They're kids, they like new toys even if they already have a ton. It irritates my sister a little but they're only young once. Plus I have SEVEN other nieces and nephews who have lots of toys and clothes and it would take me all year to think of something "unique" or to take them all to a pottery shop gift/date. Besides, you have seven of your own to shop for and spend time with. Maybe you could suggest to her that she and the girls donate some of their old toys or clothes...new toys in, old toys out!
Hope this helps!
I think you're on to something with the outing idea. Take them somewhere and give them an experience instead of just an object. That'll be something they remember for the rest of their lives. The zoo, the Children's Museum, or other places like that would be fun for kids... Make sure to take a camera along and get a good picture of you guys having fun. You can give that to her as a reminder. Also, you might just give them a set amount of money, and let them decide how and where they want to spend it. You could take them shopping for an afternoon and have a root beer float at a cafe, then buy little trinkets, or maybe a present for their parents.
