Hi there,

I am such a picky eater so in hopes that my daughter won't be the same way, I introduce her to different things. I was wondering what you other mothers feed your children.

Of course she loves, bananas, grapes, raisens, cantelope, yoguart, cheerios, hot dogs, fish sticks, chicken and does pretty good will grilled cheese, eggs, and mixed veggies.

Just looking for some other ideas.

Thanks.

Hey P.,
First, I loved wakeboarding before I had my ds (15mo almost also). I am now pregnant again, so It's been another summer w/no watersports, not even waverunners! We used to live on Eagle Mountain, but now we moved back to civilization and sold my dear MB Sports boat! : (

Anyway, I feed most of the same foods you do and embarrassingly enough, some worse! I would have never thought I would feed my son Mc Donald's, but it makes for a peaceful lunch!!!! William also likes peaches and pears from del monte/dole and he loves yogurt that I add milk to and give as a drink. He's not big on mac and cheese, but I know a lot of kids are. He LOVES rice and beans though. He has started to like to eat big things and take bites off himself, despite only having 8 teeth!

Good luck, and I'd like to read what others say! What part of FtWorth do you live in??

Hi P.,

I have a 17 mo old son and in addition to all the other great ideas that moms have given, I feed my son Gardenburgers - the frozen ones. I just microwave them and give them it him plain (cut up, but with no bun) with a little ketchup for dipping and he gobbles them up. He actually loves all of those "veggie" items in that same freezer section - they are broccoli bites and "chicken" nuggets.

I am new to the area, and just started getting involved in some things with my son and have many of your same interests, so please feel free to contact me!

If you'll send me your email address, I have a document I've put together with ideas for toddler meals that I put together for the parents of my daycare children. I keep it on file and get lots of requests for it. I'd be glad to share it with you.

It sounds like you are doing great feeding your little one. I would avoid hot dogs, though. Besides their lack of nutrition value, it's the one food that children choke on the most. For more ideas on nutrition, I recommend that you check out the web site, www.feingold.org. It's loaded with information about nutrition. This site has links to many other addresses that provide info.

Enjoy this time with your child. You know the old cliche, "they stay young for such a short time."

Hey, P.!

I have two girls, ages 3 and almost 14 months. I feed them everything! One of their favortites is green beans (even thought I think they are disgusting!). We also eat edamame (soy beans) and they like corn, carrots, salad, broccoli (another fave), chicken, pork, beef, mac and cheese, any kind of pasta, pizza, peaches are a fave, apples, oranges, bananas, peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches, strawberries, melons, all kinds of things. My oldest loves cheese, my youngest not so much. But, my little one wants to eat anything that is on someone else's plate. They love mashed potatoes, applesauce, yogurt, and recently have decided that Nilla Wafers are their favorite food! Sometimes they won't try something because it looks new, but if I keep giving it to them, they eventually try it and sometimes it even becomes one of their new favorites!

And, yes, we do McDonald's occasionally, too. I also thought I would never do that, but...it happens! As long as it doesn't happen daily and they are still eating other healthy foods, I think its OK! Everything in moderation, right!?

Good luck!
S.

My son is 17-months and my daughter is 3, here are some things they like (they pretty much eat the same stuff, I just chop things a little smaller for my son):
For breakfast, blueberries and cereal are a recent favorite. I put cereal in a bowl and put a tiny bit of milk in (just enough to get the cereal moist and softened -- we eat Kashi Go Lean cereal and it's kind of crunchy), then toss on a small handful of blueberries. My daughter likes adding blueberries to her yogurt. It took about 2 weeks before my son actually ate the blueberries. He would say "ball" and set them aside :-). Waffles and pancakes are also favorites, of course. We let him have syrup this weekend for the first time. Big mistake. Sticky, sticky mess...
Snacks are any kind of fruit (mango, cantaloupe, pear, kiwi...only thing he doesn't like are apples), sometimes with graham crackers or wheat thins. They also like cereal bars and granola bars (Cascadian Farm granola bars are chewy)
Lunches are usually quick -- If there aren't leftovers, It's often a turkey sandwich (half a sandwich cut into thirds or smaller), chicken nuggets, pasta with steamed vegetables, mac n cheese. They usually have fruit with everything, and I try to offer a vegetable -- steamed broccoli, diced sweet potato, green beans (loves these!), etc.
TIP ON FRESH VEGGIES: TRY ORGANIC. I bought some organic broccoli on a whim, just to see what's the difference, and my kids gobbled it up like it was candy. Even asked for seconds! It really does taste better! We've switched to the organic baby carrots too, and have organic frozen green beans, corn and peas.
For dinner, we've always fed them whatever we're eating. I may separate meat before adding sauces, or reserve vegetables aside before assembling a casserole (for whatever reason my daughter has never eaten a casserole), but it's pretty much the same stuff. Spaghetti is always a hit (though it's a messy one!). They tend to like chicken more than pork unless it's cooked in a crock pot.
Hope this helps!

Sounds like what my daughter ate and still does at 3 1/2. I try my hardest to feed her exactly what we are eating just cut it up. I started at first to always make her what she wanted and I dont reccommend doing that..that aids in them being picky. If they dont have a choice then they usally eat what you give and wont be too picky..just stick to your guns..I had to learn the hard way ..but its ok now. What your child is eating is fine and sounds like there is a variety of food groups in the mix so as long as its healthy and they are always eating junk what your feeding is just about what I do. As long as they continue to eat certain foods keep pushing those...they will let you know if they are burned out on it and just take a break from that food for a while and then go back...my daughter did this w/ hot dogs....well hope it helps some and good luck!

As far as the food, my 15 month old eats everything, so I don't know. Try sausage or mixed veggies she can pick up with her fingers.
