What Do You Do to Take Time to Yourself?

Hi Moms,

Wondering what you all do to take time to yourself? When your children are young and home all day; what do you do? Just curious! Do any of you nap or take a bath during the nap times? Just curious what you ladies do in your spare time if you have any! I want to go get a massage and pedicure so bad. I rarely take time out for myself. I always find myself cleaning and catching up on work. I feel like I always have to work to get ahead. Do you all work on the weekends? I am trying to adjust my schedule so I only have work during the week.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I work-out everyday after I drop him off at afternoon 4K.

I COULD be cleaning the house but I get caught up after I pick him up and he's decompressing before dinner. It also helps that my husband actually DOES things around the house.

I'm so blessed to not have that constant arguement so many other mom's/wives have.

Yes, all the time!! I have one child and goes to preschool. I adore all the precious time we spend together reading, talking, cuddling, and just enjoying being together. But I also have lots of time to myself to work out, read, play on the computer, go out with friends, spend time on my hair and makeup, cook, ect. I don't know how moms who have 3 or more kids do it without lots of help.

I am the mother of 4 boys. I use to have time to myself. Our oldest is in afternoon K. Our 4 yr old doesnt nap anymore and is always under foot. Then we have a 1 yr old and 3mo old. I use to nap when they napped, but I now I clean b/c if I don't I get behind on cleaning. I get "my time" when my inlaws visit about 3 x's a year. Plus I enjoy my time when I'm in the shower.

My husband use to work 12 -15 hr shifts at his old work. And he would work like 3 days then have 2 days off type schedule. I really enjoyed having "my nights", but I don't have those anymore since he works 8 to 5.

I also look forward to our second son being in school next year. :)

Oh also, I usually let things slide on the weekends when hubby is off and he takes on the majority of the kids.

Every day for the past year and 1 month from 3 to 4 I work out and stretch or do yoga. Sometimes I do it late, or early and sometimes they try to interrupt or I let them join me. But I do it everyday. It has made all the difference in how I look, feel and act. I'm 9 months pregnant and never been happier, and haven't felt this good about myself in over 10 years.

I really really really advocate for taking time for ones self.

Well I go to the gym about three times a week. Now my youngest is in kindergarten. I really have time outside of going to the gym by myself. My husband works late so its usually myself and my three kids.

This is what Mothers-Day-Out programs are for. They are 1-3 days per week and they are usually very limited programs. I mean really, who wants to take their toddler to the OB/GYN appointment with them every time. Or to the grocery store when they could drop them off and go enjoy shopping for a change.

I go to the Y 5 days a week and work out and once a week I either have dinner with a friend or go to the movies by myself. If I need a nap during the day I put a movie on for my 3 year old. Sometimes if I've had a rough day I just go out somewhere (Starbucks, mall etc...) when my husband gets home from work.
