What Did You Toddler Did the First Time She/he Use the Potty?

My daughter used the potty today for first time, me and my 12 year old daughter clap and cheer, but I don't think my little one knows what she did. I show her her pee and she said "water" and was about to touch it to play with it (Ups!).
We bring the pee to the toilet while me and my daughter were singing the potty song and my daughter was with us singing as well, but she seem very normal about it.
Did your kid notice when they use their potty for first time? What they did? Or is more a big deal for us and for them is like "what ever".
I can't remember well what my older daughter did but I think she showed more excitement about it.
EDIT: My daughter is 2.

What can I do next?

The first time my son went on the potty (at 22 months) he pooped, and when he got up and I saw that he had went I cheered and got all excited and he got scared and wanted to get away from it and wrapped his arms around me and wouldn't let go! He hasn't went on it since as he is now scared of it and wants nothing to do with it. I rewarded him with a cookie and told him what a good boy he was, but that didn't do anything obviously so yea that was his reaction! How old is your daughter? Maybe she is still too young to understand what she did or to get excited about it.

Its really funny you are asking this, because I just went through this. I just started potty training my son last week. At first, I didn't think he realized when he went. He would sit and sit and sit there. Then I would get tired of him sitting there and tell him to get up. Then when he got up, I saw he peed. I was worried that he didn't realize when he peed- even though I made a big deal like you did. Well we are almost a week later. Total different story. Today he told me 3 times that he had to go potty and even did #2! Just keep at it and she'll get the idea. Also, my son has a couple books and dvd's that talk about the potty, so maybe that will help her understand. A really good one is "The Potty Book" they make it special for boys or girls. Just keep talking to her about using the potty and hopefully she'll get it. Good luck!

My son potty trained himself at 3 1/2. He woke up one morning and asked for underwear and was 100% trained (except for nighttime). He was really proud of himself and got VERY excited about getting a treat (2 m&ms for a pee, 5 for a poo). He just kept talking about how he's a "big boy" now and how much he's like mommy and daddy now because he wears underwear and uses the toilet and how diapers are for babies. But granted, he was 3 1/2, so he was very aware of what he was doing.

Good luck!!

This is a funny question, because I had the same experience! Did someone out there teach us that your kid is supposed to be as thrilled as you are when they use the potty? My son simply followed directions to potty at school, and I continued the same at home, and there was very little fanfare on his behalf. I even tried to give him a "prize" to potty, like a sticker, but he did not seem that interested! However, I guess now that he's got the hang of it, and it starting to cue himself to go instead of me telling him to go, he is more interested in the whole thing and is happy when he "poots" in the potty (although still not that interested in celebrating with pee, even though he will do it on his own). I guess that's normal!?!? Whatever works!
