What Did You Do About Your Running Shoes While Pregnant?

I was an avid runner before I got pregnant. Now at 7 months, I'm still running/jogging, but my feet are swelling up a little bit, making my running shoes feel a bit tight at the gym. I don't want to have to get a new pair just for 2 months. Anyone else a jogger/walker/runner during pregnancy, and if so, what did u do when your feet began to swell?

What can I do next?

I ran early on in my pregnancies, up to about 4 months, then I just couldn't deal with the constant need to pee and the heavy feeling, so I switched to walking. I ended up having to buy new sneakers midway through each pregnancy (you have done well just noticing the bigger feet feeling now!!). I'd get a new pair and try to get them cheaper, as much as it stinks. Your feet may even stay "bigger" for a little while postpartum, so you may use them longer than you think, like the first post said.

One thing - I'm sure you are exercising smartly based on your fitness level and background, current pregnancy, etc. Don't let others make you feel like you are harming your baby by exercising, you are doing one of the best things you can for both the baby and yourself, and not just from a weight gain perspective! People have a mindset that once you are pregnant, even right after conception, you shouldn't exercise, and that is not accurate if you are healthy and have been working out to begin with. I hate that attitude... just a vent here! I hope you keep it up and have a fabulous recovery from the birth, because it helps with that too!!! Hang in there!

Not quite the answer to your question, but I thought I would share so you are aware.

I tried to stay active while pregnant as well. I wasn't running, but walked from the parking lot into the office, then back again after work, and around the parking lot at 2 breaks and lunch. As well, I continued photographing weddings up to my 8th month.

At some point I had an issue where I didn't have enough fluid and had to go into ER and drink a picture of iced water in 1 hour and that got her going again. Then due to my age, I had to start going in for weekly ultra sounds and the nurse noticed I didn't have enough fluid. I was drinking more than my share of water and the nurse was sure I wasn't. I showed her I could down a bottle of water in a second and she started asking what type activities I was doing. That was it, no more walking and no more photo shoots. I was placed on restriction!

Exercise, but use caution.

Stopped running ;)

or you can loosen the strings a lot, if you don't want to get a new pair. But really, it may take longer than 2 months for your feet to return to normal anyways (if they ever do), so maybe getting a cheaper pair of shoes for now would do.
