What Cool Tricks Have You Learned from Mamapedia?

I read a while ago in a response to another mom that if you put toilet paper over the electric eye on the public automatic toilets they won't flush. I tried it yesterday and it was wonderful! I didn't have to worry about Maggie jumping off the toilet while she was going because it flushed on its own. So thanks to that mom or moms who had the great tip!

What other ideas or tricks have you learned (that really work) from other people on mamapedia?

What can I do next?

I haven't learned any "tricks" however, I've learned that whenever I throw out a question I get an amazingly broad spectrum of answers. Usually several points are brought up that help me resolve my question. I love this site and I thank everyone for their insight.

You read my mind! I was just thinking about some of the great mom advice I've had over the years.
Here I read a post about using 100 puzzle pieces for the school 100 day project. Perfect-I had a puzzle that was missing pieces and it was much better than sending her with cheerios that would get musher in the backpack.
When my son was born someone suggested parking next to cart corrals. Perfect since he was a January baby. I still do this because I don't like to walk away from the car with the kids in it.
And sometimes I read others on here talking about things that they do at home-that I also do. It's nice to hear that perhaps your not too far out of tbe box sometimes.

Best trick I have learned here is: When going to big amusement park, zoo, museum or other crowded public places with little kids that might get lost and are too young to memorize your cell phone number, you write your phone number on their arm in sharpie, just in case!

I never would have thought of that b/c writing in marker of any kind is not something I would ever think to do to my child but when weighing the pros and cons of loosing a child or writing on them in ink...I take the ink any day!

Riley J. gave this brilliant piece of advice that has (sadly and scarily) actually came in handy once when my in-laws took my kids to the Portland Zoo a few summers back! I was so thankful that I had heard of this and thought to do it!!!

I don't know if it was here or not, but the tip about taking pictures of your children on your cell phone as you leave the house with them to go some place like an amusement park, the mall, the grocery store, the park, or wherever has stayed with me. One of my daughters is an eloper due to her Autism, and there have been a couple of times where in spite of our precautions she's managed to give us the slip. She wears a medic alert bracelet with my contact info on it in addition to her medical information, but having her (and her sisters) most recent photo in case she's lost (or kidnapped or injured) is good to have for authorities if we ever needed help with a search.

when it comes to answering questions about relationships & children, it's very important to read the backstory beforehand.

I have a bathroom attached to my office with an "electric eye" toilet. I put a Post-it over the eye. :-) I hate those things!

Let's see....cool tricks.

I have nothing right now. I'll think on it and come back.

I was told about "slim/skinny" jeans for toddlers with tiny waists...I didn't know such a creature existed...the adjustable waist yes...but not the slim/skinny jean. So glad my son no longer had plumber's crack...yea!!
