Mamas-

I am getting mulch for our pumpkin patch in our backyard. What color do you recommend? Our house is red brick and our deck will be (once painted) a medium brown. I don't think I want red....should we get black or brown?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

NO MULCH.....we ended up with termites because of it! We placed big river rocks around our bedding areas, we used plastic in the beds to prevent weeds, & ended up with termites thriving in that wet/moist area. It was a nightmare! The exterminator said that he always recommends staying far, far away from mulch-because it didn't matter which mulch you used -any wood product is home to termites. Good Luck!

Black color stays longer than brown, but doesn't look like "real" mulch all of the time. We chose brown this year, and it has faded, but it still looks nice. I am with you...no red...it just looks tacky and fake (IMO)!

We use Scott's black mulch. It actually keeps it's color and doesn't fade like any other brand we've used.

I say brown since you don't like red. Black sometimes looks fake.
{My 2 cents.. I prefer the red, cedar, I like the smell and the way it looks.}

red.....i hear the red mulch attracts less termites, and holds in more moisture.

btw i just planted pumpkins and they are looking so pretty!

***i just read, you dont like red, i lovvvvve it, our house is white so the dark maroon looks awesome.,,,,if not red then black

If the brown is a close color match, go with that, if not black.
