There is lots of calcium in other foods and drinks. You can give her calcium fortified OJ. I would also suggest getting her tested for allergies.

First, you have to have this confirmed by a doctor that all of them are affecting her this way. She shouldn't have the soy milk, even if she weren't affected by it. Our society uses soy way too much (it's in everything) and research is starting to show that it's not the best thing for our bodies in those amounts, especially for such little ones. If the soy milk is affecting her, it's probably the soy lecithin in the other stuff affecting her (Which also means you can't buy anything that has soy in it and when I said it's in pretty much everything, I meant it. I learned that recently when my son couldn't have soy anymore either.)

Get the book "Nourishing Traditions". It will help a lot in this area. If you're interested in making your own "milk", there are tons of sites online (as well as the book I mentioned) to get you started. It's really easy.

What does her pediatrician suggest? Start there.
Can she eat yogurt/cheeses?
Good luck!

I can't believe that her doctor hasn't advised you on this. Have you taken her to the doctor? If her doctor CONFIRMS she has all these allergies, I'm sure there will be something she can suggest.

Also, if you are going to try alternatives, wait awhile between each so you know it isn't a residual reaction from prior "milk".

It's very common for babies with a milk allergy to also be allergic to soy milk, and most other substitues have some amount of soy lecithin in them (I know rice milk does, because it's what I'm using for myself while nursing my dairy allergic daughter. She tolerates soy, fortunately.)

There are other animal milks available, such as goat. A health store might have something without dairy or soy.

However, I really can't believe you aren't asking her doctor this!

Also, don't worry about the "healthy" fats she needs. If she's two, she can get all she needs from fish, beans, etc.

you do not HAVE to have milk in your diet, if she is loosing weight and you are concerned you should talk to the pedi and find out what they suggest or see a nutritionist.

My 4 year old has NEVER had a cup's worth of cow's milk in her short little life. Here is a little known fact....The WHOLE purpose of a mother cow's milk is to make a 200lb calf grow to a 2 ton heiffer in a short time. Why, do we, as a society, think that it is NEEDED to FEED our human children by way of ......cow's milk...goat's milk...Soy milk?....There is NO reason to EVEN have cows milk. Eat cheese or even yogurt. If a kid WILL drink milk that is great...if not, dont sweat it....

You could try goat's milk... I would suggest finding alternatives to milk though for the fats. Avacado is good, fish, beans, tofu, etc. I'm sure your pedi. can give you more suggestions...

Please go see an allergist and nutritionist. My children have multiple allergies and it is very challenging trying to feed them. It is important that children have proper nutrients for their brain and development. Your daughter is probably missing essential fats and calories. A nutritionist is essential when your child has multiple food allergies to make sure they are getting everything they need. Shop Whole Foods or Allergen Grocer online.

Hi there, Neither of my girls could have milk for the same reasons. I tried everything: Pediasure, rice milk, etc. We had total success with drinkable yogurts. For some reason the yogurt did not bother my youngest like the milk did. Danimals or any other kind. They love them. My toddler drinks about 3 or 4 a day.
Our doctor also gave us some kind of Carnation drink mix for kids that you could mix with anything, not just milk. Maybe that could help? Good luck!

It si misconception that children NEED milk. My younger son has refused it since 8 mo old and is very healthy and happy child.
Proteins can come form meats, fish, chicken...
Fat- from many other sources,
Calcium-broccoli, yougurt
What else do you want to replace... not much is left, I guess.
Liquids - water, fresh natural juices.
Good luck.

I can't do cow's milk either, but I tolerate goat's milk just fine. It's naturally homogenated and is the closest thing to human breast milk. Nutritionally, it equals cow (in terms of fat/calorie/calcium content). I get mine from a local farm.

If she has trouble with cow, she may still be able to tolerate yogurt. The best I've found is Fage total (full fat) greek yogurt. It's much more digestible than most yogurts on the market. If you're concerned about fats, coconut milk is a really good alternative (it's high in omega 3).

Milk is the number one allergen. If you want your daughter to drink a white liquid you could try darifree which is potato milk, hazelnut milk, hemp milk. But probably you'd be better off with just water. Give her good fats in her food. You can do an Alletess IgE and IgG test for food allergies and food sensitivies.
