I would suggest making an appt. with an endocrinologist and discussing diet, exercise and medications.
I'm a certified diabetes educator and agree with the suggestions below. If you have type 2 diabetes it's OK to exercise to lower your blood sugars. If you have type 1 diabetes, check your ketones first to make sure they are negative before exercising. I'm curious how often you test your sugars- daily, every now and then, or somewhere in between. If your sugar has been generally between 80-140 most of the time and the 309 is a one-time occurance and comes back down, you will be OK. If your numbers have been steadily climbing though and staying elevated, and the 309 doesn't come down, then I suggest you meet with your physician/endocrinologist to discuss your treatment plan. I also recommend asking for a referral to a certified diabetes educator or dietitian who specializes in diabetes to help you with the lifestyle management of your diabetes. In the meantime, check your blood sugars regularly! Good luck!
I am not a healthcare professional, but I have family members with diabetes. You might want to call your doctor's office and let them know about your blood glucose levels. They might give you specific instructions on what to do and when to test again. If you blood sugar levels go up more, you should definitely call your doctor. They might tell you to get some exercise like walking unless they have determined your blood sugar is too high to exercise. You should also get plenty of fluids (water) and cut down on the carbs you are eating for the next few meals (don't eliminate them, just make sure they are complex carbohydrates. Sign up for some diabetes education classes and they will help you get prepared to handle this kind of emergency.
My husband is diabetic and his endocrinologist told him to drink plenty of water and take a walk if his numbers are high. Obviously, stay away from sugars and simple carbs. I don't know what your numbers usually run, but to maybe give you a little peace of mind, my husband has been much higher than 309 on several occasions and his glucose has always come back down after a couple of hours. If you've not eaten anything high sugar or carbolicious today, you probably do want to see your doctor though. It's my understanding that it's best to keep your glucose levels below 180 at their highest so if your current medications are not keeping you below or at least close to that level, you might be due for some changes to your regimen.
Blessings,
N.
Be careful not to over correct. Take your usual headache remedy. Usually a little exercise(a short walk helps), have some water. If your number stays high more than a few hours, call your healthcare provider. Plan ahead, for party situations, don't miss out on the celebration. Keep checking those numbers. I have had elevations to be symtomatic of infectionsn onset, not poor food choices

Good luck!!
Your numbers are very dangerous! If you are taking your meds and they aren't coming down, then you need to get into the doctor immediately. I am a diabetic and I was in ketoacidosis when I was a bit higher than you are. That warranted a 3 day stay in ICU. Please do not take this lightly!
You could call a doctor or a pharmacy.
Take all rice, potato, and pasta out of your diet.
Take all white bread our of your diet - eat pumpernickel, rye, or swirl.
Take all candy, cake, and sweets out of your diet.
Take all the chips and cheeze curls out of your diet. Eat nuts - almonds are best.
Make chicken or fish - red meat is not so good.
Salads - add sliced almonds or cheese or sunflower seeds or chicken or even a little bit of sliced ham.
Eat boiled eggs - they are high in protein, but have very few carbs.
Exercise - a brisk walk to get your heart rate to 120 - 130 beats for 15 min. straight will help.
Good luck

You can exercise and also watch what you eat-no sugar or white flour. But I have no idea about diabetes numbers-if that is really high call your doctor.
Blood glucose over 300 is when damage starts to set in. You need to drink a lot of water, avoid eating anything that will cause an increase, and I REALLY think you need to call your doctor's office and speak to the physician on call.
You shouldn't exercise until you speak with someone.
I suggest you contact your dr and review your dosage and carb counting. It sounds like you are out of control, and need to get things back in line.
Do a little bit of exercise, like taking a walk if you feel up to it. Having cake and ice cream over the weekend shoudn't have anything to do with your current sugar levels. Check your levels again in another hour or two, if they're still high call your doctor.
I don't know how high your numbers normally are but at 309, you may want to talk too your doctor.
Now that your numbers are high, take your insulin (assuming you take insulin) as scheduled or necessary. Refrain from eating anything that would make your numbers stay high until you get it down. Try to relax...stress will make your numbers rise too.
My husband is diabetic and he says cheating is cumulative. So plan ahead and don't eat carbs or sugar before attending a special occasion. Even then, keep your serving very small and make sure it follows a high protein meal. It's the zig-zag, up and down of your numbers that is harmful, so keeping it steady is the trick. That takes discipline, something we all lack at times. Your life, eyesight, your whole body depends upon your being disciplined. If you are unable to keep your numbers down, ask your doctor for help. My husband takes metformin and starlix to control his sugar, and he rarely ever cheats. Good luck.
Sometimes, no matter what you do, you can't control the sugar levels. Small changes that will affect the levels are switching regular bread and pasta to whole grain bread and pasta. Choosing real fruit instead of canned or prepared fruit can also make a difference. I'm anti-artificial sweetener, however, I swear by the new Truvia. It's a great alternative to sugar, and it's all natural. I was diabetic during pregnancy, and had no option but to change my eating habbits and exercise habbits. The more you use the sugars/carbs you intake, the less your body needs insulin to lower the levels, so try getting a 30 minute walk in during the day, even if it's at the mall window shopping! Good luck!
You didn't say how many months pregnant you are, if you are pregnant.
Assuming you're NOT pregnant, exercise.
Walk or run for at least a half an hour.
Drink more water.
If you are pregnant, call the advice nurse at your doctor's office
and ask what you should be doing.
Hello, I think you really need to cut on carbo intake and food loaded with creams and sugar. My mom is also diabetic and her usual breakfast would either be quaker oats or soup. She eats her snack 2 hours after breakfast. She drinks our very own "ampalaya" tea to reduce sugar level. Our best eating option is eating in moderation. Give yourself a Sunday to eat what you like but , in moderation.
