Looking for your favorite green bean or broccoli casserole recipes. I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and looking to make one of these. I'm not a big fan of the typical green bean casserole with the french onions on the top. Looking for something a little different and super yummy and hopefully pretty simple :) Would love to use fresh green beans or fresh broccoli vs. frozen.

What can I do next?

Fresh green beans, snipped and steamed.

In a skillet cook 4-6 slices of diced bacon...render till crispy. Add bacon and grease to green beans and toss together. Add some salt and whoala! Yummy, Easy Green Beans!

~They are not the best for you health wise...but they are tasty and we only make them once a year...on Christmas!

I love this casserole and it's so easy. Parboil a bag of baby carrots and 2 bunches of brocolini (baby brocoli) in salted water. I usually chop the carrots in half and cook them for a couple of minutes before I add the brocolini, then 5 mins more. Meanwhile, mix 1/2 cup mayo with 1 tsp horseradish, a 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper and 3 T minced onions. Add 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid to the mayo mixture. Coat the veggies with the mayo mixture in a baking dish. Next, melt a stick of butter in the microwave, add 3/4 cup parm cheese, then 3/4 cup bread crumbs. Stir half of butter-crumb-cheese mixture into veggies and spread 1/2 on top. Bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes.

Personally, I like my broccoli "straight" - steamed, with a little butter or margarine added. Other ingredients mess it up. But I hope you'll get a lot of good recipes!

If I want something different with green beans, I roast them with cherry tomatoes, olive oil, italian seasonings, salt and pepper. Put them in the oven (whatever temperature you are already cooking at) until the tomatoes pop! So yummy!

I saw a recipe in Southern Living this month that also had a green bean casserole. They used fresh green beans, water chestnuts, mushrooms, and the cream of mushroom soup. Bake it and throw the french onion straws on top. It sounds similar enough to the "original", but adds a few more things! I bet you could find it on their website. Good luck!

everyone freaks out about this recipe, and if i alter it they can tell, and dont like it as much

Broccoli cheese rice casserole. You use 2 bags of minute white rice, I can of cheez whiz and add a can of cream of chicken, and then add as much chopped broccoli as your family likes. If you like a lot of broccoli add a lot of broccoli. Put it in a casserole dish and then preheat oven to 350 and bake about 20-30 minutes. Always a hit since I do thanksgiving dinner every year.

Green beans put in crock pot add cooked bacon and butter and let them go and forget about them. Always another hit. Simple but yet delicious.
