Ok, I finished my hospice training and have my first assignment. The lady has lung carcinoids that have spread to her liver. Guess who else has had a lung carcinoid? That's right, me! What are the chances this would happen?
I will need prayers to get through this. And no, I am not going to ask for another assignment.

What can I do next?

Hi victoria-

Have you considered the idea that perhaps YOU are 'uniquely qualified' to be the person FOR this woman?

There are few 'accidents' in my opinion...just 'divine' nudges...and small miracles...

Healing thoughts to you...and your 'assignment'...

Best Luck!

Wow, think of the personal strength you will gain! There is no better person equipped to take care of your patient.

Yes, I will pray, but gotta feeling you won't need it, lots of strength coming from this and your past posts.

I admire you very much.

I agree with the other ladies that posted here. You were put in this role by God to bless this woman. You may not feel like you can handle it, but He can, so I will most certainly pray for strength for you. I couldn't imagine doing hospice care, so I admire you for your courage and strength. I am a cancer survivor and I watched a close friend pass from it and was there in her final days. It was heart wrenching and still brings tears to my eyes to think of it, but I know that we were both blessed to be with each other during that time. God bless you for doing this assignment. Just know that it was meant to be and let the Holy Spirit do the rest. Peace and hugs to you.

I agree with Catwalk! I don't believe in coincidences. God has put you in this place at this exact moment to help with this situation. I will be praying for you, but let the Holy Spirit fill you and the rest will come naturally. God Bless you for such honorable work.

Victoria, you can do it. There's nothing like facing what might be stressful for you right out the gate. Just think, if you can do this, then every other assignment you get will be a bit easier.

You're an amazing woman!

*hugs*

My grandpa who is 90 yo is dying of cancer right now and about to go into Hospice. I am so thankful for great caring hospice nurses everywhere...my grandpa is so important to me - I keep having memories of him as a younger man when I was a little girl - teaching me how to swim, taking me school shopping, sitting and talking with me, how proud he was when I had my first child - his first great grandchild....
Him having proper, compassionate care is priceless.
So thank you Victoria for being so brave, I know I could never do what you do.

Hospice personnell definitely DO NOT get enough recognition. I'm sure it is such a difficult and emotional trying job. I will absolutely pray for you to gain strength and courage to complete this assignment. Thank you for your service and companionship to the elderly and terminally ill and their families.

You felt the need to take this training and go through all that time learning. Perhaps it was so you could help this poor woman in her time of need. I think that each person you come in contact with that is in the same situation will bring some blessing to your life.

Please wait until you have had time once this assignment is over before quitting. It takes a certain person to be able to do this and you must have that ability or the gift, it would not have appealed to you in the first place where you signed up.
