Morning ladies, well after keeping up with all my spending for the month i was so shocked to see how much money i have been spending on mall food everyday between me and my husband. We both work in a kiosk at the mall so i do not have a microwave or a fridge( not allowed by company). I just purchased a electric kettle to plug in tho and got ramen noodle and oatmeal and instant coffee. What other type of meals can i cook at work just using a kettle? any ideas? i refuse to buy mall food again , now i will pack lunches and bring to work but again no fridge r microwave so im very limited on what i can bring. Any ideas would be great thanks!!!!

I make my kids a bento box for lunch daily with left overs from dinner and they take it to school with an ice pack and eat it cold the next day. If you want warm food, there is instant oatmeal, instant grits, instant soups, even some noodle bowls in the international foods isle with Pad Thai and such that you just add water to. Of course there are all kinds of foods that you eat cold and can pack in a lunch cooler with a cold pack - sandwiches, fruits, yogurts, granola bars, etc.

I second the recommendation for ice packs- some lunch bags even have them built in.
There's a lot of choices for a gourmet salad- grilled chicken with mandarin oranges, apples and walnuts, cranberries and pecans, feta cheese and black olives, black beans and tortilla chips, chick peas and pita bread.
Do you both have to stay in the mall to eat? Maybe you could get a sandwich from a grocery store nearby or one of you could get take out cheaper outside the mall.

Well, an electric kettle pretty much just boils water, so anything you can make with boiled water will work. (Only water goes in the kettle - you pour it into a bowl or soup mug to mix with what ever you've got).
With an electric hot pot, you can dump in a can of ravioli and it will heat it up for you.
Will work with soup and can heat up left overs.
You have to wash up the pot after every cooking session.
We use to travel with a small hot pot when we drove across country (before microwave was invented), but some of the ones I see on Amazon right now are almost big enough to be slow cookers.
It might be easier to just pack a lunch and keep it with some ice packs in a lunch box or small cooler.
Peanut butter and jelly doesn't even require refrigeration.

A thermos is a wonderful thing in your case. Of course, you can get the ones that hold hot drinks but they also come in shapes made for left-overs. You can heat soup, spaghetti, whatever before leaving in the morning and then it will still be hot several hours later. Make sandwiches on buns so it seems more like deli. Take a 2 ltr. drink, large bag of chips, etc., and keep in a drawer. I bet you get lots of suggestions about packing food for the day.
