What Age to Give a Pillow

My daughter is 14 months old and I am just wondering what age I should give her her first pillow? Do I wait until she moves to a toddler bed? She's still in her crib now and I am hoping to keep her in it until she is 2. What kind of pillow do they get first? Any help would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I got my son a pillow around 13 months. Target has one that's pretty flat for about $2. Sometimes he sleeps on it, sometimes he doesn't, but a lot of times he crawls into bed and flops over on it--very cute :)

I put a full size pillow in the crib right before my DS moved to a twin bed. He was about 16 months old.

My youngest son was about 15 months old when he first crawled on his brothers bed and headed straight for the pillow and laid down. I would give a smaller pillow in the crib, as not to cramp too much. Learning to use a pillow and toddler bed at the same time for the first time may be overwhelming for a young one.

I gave my boys a pillow around 1 yr. and they both looked at me like "where have you been hiding this prize?" They instantly loved it and I believe slept better. Just make sure it is very flat so that it cannot be used for leverage to get out of their crib.

I gave my daughter pillows and stuffed animals when she began standing in her crib and crawling and was very mobile. I'd say by now you'd be fine. Any pillow will work you may want to stay away from feathered pillows for allergies and such. Your daughter is way way past the SIDS stage I think SIDS is usually no longer a factor after around 6-9mos. And a new study just came out saying that blankets and pillows are not a contributing factor.

My son is 2 and I just started putting a pillow in his crib. He took one of his sisters and that was that. I had never thought that he might like a pillow, because his sister never wanted one. He loves it, so now he sleeps with his pillow, his "fuzzy" (blanket) and his dog karl.

Daycare used a pillow for my daughter when she was around one. It was a fiber filled pillow. At home, I have her use the Chiropracter pillow where it's contoured and supports your neck better. I think Target has the pillow where you press your hand in the pillow it leaves a hand impression. That might be a firm pillow yet gives her better support.

My daughter is 2 now and still sleeping in her crib. At around 15 months she took one of the pillows off of our cough and has been using that ever scence. She just found what she liked. I would not be afraid to give her a pillow. mabey take her to the store and let her see which one she likes.
