Maybe start with some Gold Bond powder or something similar in her armpits and see if that helps.
I always thought u didn't use deodorant until about age 10 or so, maybe a little earlier. Not at 5yrs old! But my daughter is 5 and sweats a lot. She doesn't have BO on a normal basis but during the summer, she can smell rank sometimes! Haha with the heat and the fact that she sweats a lot, sometimes she might smell by end of day. She bathes every day in the summer, sometimes more if she has been outside and sweating a lot. Should I use deodorant at this young of age or just chalk it up to the summer heat? I don't know if deodorant is safe that young. Thanks!

Make Sure She Is Drinking Plenty Of Water, Taking Baths With Good Use Of Soap And Rinsing, Watch Junk Food Intake. If After This Perhaps A Mineral Deoderant That You Dampen And Use Would Be Better At This Age As It Prevents Growth Of Bacteria Without Preventing Sweat. I asked this same exact question 4 years ago! I first started noticing body odor in my daughter around 5 1/2 - 6 years old. I freaked out! I was worried about early onset puberty and all that comes with that. I talked to her pediatrician who was entirely unconcerned. She said it was fine as long as she wasn't beginning to develop breast buds, which I guess is the true sign of the onset of puberty. But I'm with you, I remember it being 10-11 at the earliest. Apparently things really have changed since we were kids.
I started her on Dove brand and she's still using it today. She's just about to turn 10 and just started developing in the last few months. So although the body odor started way early, the rest of her development seems to be on track.
They're growing up way too fast these days! Good luck!
