use hydrogen peroxide....it works! Use can use a spray bottle to apply it. Hydrogen Peroxide will remove the smell as well as the stain. Test an area first to see if HP removes the fabric color. You'll need to air dry the matress. I've used HP for my matress after a cat got locked in my guest bedroom. It worked so well that you can't even tell that it ever happened.

saturate w/ nature's miracle. petsmart type store carries it. and then let dry. if you feel like putting the mattress out into the sun that should also help. Our bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, so,hauling a mattress out side is not happening here. Also, to prevent the problem, Joann's fabric sells flannel water proof fabric by the yard.

Hi D.,

Oh I so hate it when that happens, We have had this problem before with our toddler and what we've done is saturated the bed, scrub, spray and so forth, and after that was all done we finally purchased mattress protectors;but here is a link to where you can find answers from other moms that have experienced "Pee on Mattress" and don't forget to air it out. Good Luck! http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=378992

Take it outside on a sunny day, wash with soapy water and a good natural disingectant like Melaleuca, and let it dry all day. Make sure it isn't where the sprinklers will hit it, and it doesn't rain (then you'd have to throw it out), and that you have someone to help you drag it back in before dark. If it doesn't get dry, don't use it until it is. If you have to keep it inside, you could put an Alpine Air Cleaner by it. If it still stinks, throw it out and get a new one, and put a waterproof mattress cover under the sheet.

I have no advice for you LOL ~ But laughed so hard at your 'little about me' I was sure that I was the only one who worked FULL time and slept part time =] Now that the kids have all started sleeping thru the night my DOG has stopped sleeping thru the night....A mom never wins! But I couldn't be happier.

I am looking into the mattress thing as well, I have stinkin crib and I have not been able to get the smell out of it no matter what I have tried. Same with the sheets, I had to switch to all white sheets so I could bleach them out.

God bless you!

I use a 50/50 bleach/water solution. I wash the area 2-3 times and pat down with a towel to remove any excess liquid. Allow to dry.

I'm a big fan of Nature's Miracle. It is an enzyme that cleans up food, blood, poop and pee. It combines on a chemical level and neutralizes what ever you are trying to clean up. Nature's Miracle is marketed as a pet cleaner so you may have trouble finding it at regular stores but it should be easy to find at pet stores and/or veterinarians. The best part is that you just pour or spray it on the area you want to clean then let it dry.

Try the products that are used to clean up animal pee. There are several - Nature's Miracle, Urine Gone, etc. YOu can find them at your local pet supply store. Also get a plastic mattress cover!!

Hi, D..
What worked great for me: I rent a Rug Doctor from Raley's, and get the upholstery attachments. The pet urine remover they sell with the shampooers is amazing. Spray the mattress to the point of being damp and use the upholstery attachments. This took the stains and smell completely out of ours.
Good luck.

hi there! You coul try by making a slution of 1 teaspoon clorox and one handful of your favorite dtergent in a half gallon of water. mix well usin the spoon or a gloved hand.
Next take your matress an lift it off from the bed and with a rag wetted in the solution scrub it until area is wet and then dry using dry cotton towels. then, use clean water wet towels to scrub again. dry using more dry cotton towels and let your matress stand in the sun if you can or leave in a vertical position. My children had hereditary bed wetting problem. through the years i have learned that i was doing the opposite by not allowing them to drink much water . but in order to help their bladders develop a child must drink plenty of liquids. some children will be done by age five, i thought i had finished at eleven but my last pee was alittle before 15. i never liked the old school treatments one involved spanking so i would learn not to pee in my bed, and it has nothing to do with wanting or not, one becomes dead asleep and it simply happens, a full bladder empties. i hope this is not your problem.
also it is very important that you try to get the sleep you need. if need be share the responsability of night diaper changing with your "one". love ya!

Luckily there are lots of ways to get pee out of a mattress. I just emailed my friend this info as she has the same problem.

Try Bio-Kleen's Bac-Out. Squirt some of it on the problem area, and blot the excess:

http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=94847&...
It's also good for getting the stink out of my sons cloth diapers and for stains....

You could also use Borax, which is super cheap...maybe $3 or $4 for a big container:

Here's one other website:

I'm sure I'll be in your same situation soon. Good luck!
