My kids are on wait list in Westlake Academy. My 1st one is waitlist #16 for 9th grade and 2nd one #23 for 5th grade. Does anyone has any insight or experience with this school waitlist? Do you think they have any chance to get in. Thanks in advance.

I think you'll get better responses if you put the town/state in the title of your question, and if you click the button limiting it to that geographical area. Your question is going out nationwide and 95% of those seeing it aren't going to even know what area you're in. Good luck!

Are there no local boards you can post to? The chances of someone on here having a clue about this are close to nil.

It will how many decide not to come back. I have more experience with college waitlists than private schools. so 16 should have to not return for the oldest and 23 for the younger. can you find out what their retention rate is. If it's high there is not much of a chance.

Life is what happens while you are making other plans.
I have no idea if your kids will get in or not.
What if only one gets in?
I'm sure it's an excellent school but have a good back up plan in case it never pans out.

If the retention rate is bad enough that 23 kids from 4th do not return for 5th I would wonder about the school to be honest. Either way I would make other plans just in case they don't get in. The only real experience I have with waitlists was when my son was #3 for a special pre-school, he did not get in as no one dropped out.

we have been on a waitlist for montessori magnet program since 2015. every year they have turnover, but its like 2-3 kids and not knowing where we are at on the list makes it hard to know when if ever we will get switched to that magnet. if we are 16th or 23rd then the kids will be out of school by the time our name is up. (montessory is only thru 8th grade, and were already in second... )
so it all depends on the school, its turnover rate, and size of the class (ours is 28)
