Weird Sleeping Habits

My two year old pulls her hair as she falls asleep. Sometimes I find chunks of hair in the bed. She pulls it out and one side of her hair is almost gone. I cut it down once when she was younger, but now it's long and healthy except for herpulling it out. I try to keep it in cornrows but she pulls those too.
She will not keep gloves on her hands so otherwise, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Try getting a doll with long hair for her to sleep with, and let her have a paci at bed time to help destress her. My neice has the same problem. I know alot of people might disagree about the paci, but which would be the bigger issue? Try it and see. Good Luck

Hello-
Is there a lot of stress in your house or life that she is expoesd to? Reason i ask is bc this sounds like it could be something called trichotillomania. This is when children ( or adults) pull out their own hair and it is often related to stress. Maybe try having her sleep in a hat? Good luck!

I agree with the others that said it could be trichotillomania. I would contact my pediatrician or even a dermatologist. I have tric and it does seem to trigger with stress. I do it when it is quiet and no one is around- -(laying in bed at night) it is a stress reliever. Get help now before it gets worse. You are a wonderful mom for noticing this, keep us posted!

I don't have any suggestions, but my mother has been in your shoes. *I* used to do that too as a little girl. My mother would find bunches of hair on my pillow the next morning. What I did was twist my hair until it came out. I still had this habit in my twenties and early thirties...although I didn't pull my hair out...when I was relaxed, sitting there, or just thinking, I would twist my hair. It was just a calming thing. My mother was never able to get me to stop.

I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to let you know that it's a habit that does need to be broken, but not sure what to do. Someone mentioned a doll, but the doll's hair wouldn't be as soft, unless you got one that was and she was able to put up next to her head and play with that way. Our head is so much more convenient, unfortunately. :/ Good luck!

You might find a Chiropractor that is pediatric certified and have her neck adjusted. My nephew pulled on his ear when he was a baby and after he was adjusted he never did it again. Sometimes babies have funny ways of showing they are uncomfortable!
