I've been breastfeeding for 11 months now, and for the last month or so I've been noticing small welts on my breast, just under the skin. First there was one on my right breast, on the underneath, that pretty much went away, and then one showed up on the side of the same breast, went away, and now there is one on my left breast. They are soft, and mostly flush with the skin, but you can feel it if you run your hand over the area, especially in the shower. Also, they are purple, like a bruise. It feels squishy, like it's got fluid inside, similar to how a blister feels. It doesn't really hurt, but if I press on it hard it feels like a pinching sensation. Any thoughts? Do I need to go to the doctor or can I treat this on my own?
Have a doctor check it out to rule out inflammatory breast cancer. It sounds similiar. Not to scare you but it's best to rule it out and go from there. I've breastfed a lot (86 months worth so far...) and I've had lumps, bumps and plugged milk ducts that don't sound anything like what you've described. Good luck to you!!

do you drink alot of caffiene if you do back off I have gotten caffiene lumps before.
Plugged duct? Are you wearing a nursing bra or an underwire? I know people who have worn underwires while nursing, but if I wore one, I was sure to plug a duct! Mine felt like a bruise and were rather hard. I would get them near the arm pit.
I'm so scared of breast cancer, I'd go to the doctor just to make sure.

could be a blocked duct?? Mine usually hurt though.
possible clogged ducts? id talk to a lactation consultant before the doctor
