T.S.
I successfully lost weight on WW and enjoyed going to the meetings each week. Once you reach your goal weight and maintain it for 6 weeks (within 2 lbs), you become a lifetime member. Once you are a liftime member, you no longer have to pay for meetings. When I got to my goal weight many of the members, including other lifetime members, encouraged me to continue going to meetings, saying it would be a big key in keeping the weight off. I listened for a while, but when the meeting I attended was cancelled, I stopped going. It did not take long for the weight to start coming back on. Long story short, I found another meeting location in my area, am going back to meetings each week, and losing the weight I gained back. For me, the meetings are very helpful. You get a ton of great tips and support from others who are going through the same thing. No judgment from people because we're all in the same boat. I also like the accountability of weighing in weekly.
Many people are successful doing the on-line program. Not me. I need the personal, one-on-one type experience and accountability.
I also like the variety the WW affords members as far as what foods you can eat. You really can eat what you want. You just have to fit it into your points allowance.
I agree with Mommyc-- tracking your food and points is very important. Those who do so consistently tend to be much more successful at losing and maintaining.
Good luck to you! I believe in most locations, they will let you sit in on one meeting for free to see what you think. You may want to try that!
