i am looking for a weight lose solution i can do at home, lately i have had some problems with my blood pressure. its not in the danger zone yet but if i don't lose some weight it soon will be. I am not a calorie aounter and am not in a position to pay to go to a gym.

thanks for all your advice i have decided to join spark people, i will give it a try . one of my fast break goals is walking at least itime a day so if anyone wants a walking partner let me know.A.

Hi A.,
I am 41 years old and also have 3 children. My weight has bounce up and down for years but I have found that walking & slow jogging (12 min. mile) is the best thing to lower my weight. I am not an althele but I started off slowly 2 years ago by jogging for 2 minutes then walking for 1. It took me 6 months to be able to jog for 1 mile without stopping. Today I jog for 5 miles 2 to 3 times per week. I find it helps me keep my body feeling better but most of all it gives my mind a lift. Best of luck to you and I hope this helps!!

Girl I lost 95lbs in a year and a half and did it very healthy and didn't rip anything out of my life suddenly and send myself into shock, lol. I think most of us struggle with this at some point in our life! There are some wonderful ideas listed & great programs so I'll just add a small tip. If you drink soda (or as all the texans call it "Coke"); either cut it out completely or cut way back on it. I know that in the past I've went "cold-turkey" and lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks just from giving up my Dr. Pepper for a while. Besides, you feel a ton better when you don't drink a lot of soda. I understand your struggles! My knees were starting to hurt and my blood pressure was high. I had tried every diet in the world it seemed like and was even walking 2-3 miles 4 times a week. I still wasn't losing the weight. I finally tried weight watchers. I started in Feb. and reached my goal weight around July. I lost 40 lbs. For me the problem was that I was just eating way to much. Once I started recording what I ate and ate smaller protions of regular food the weight came off. The best part is I could still eat dessert. Now when I walk or jog the excercise makes a difference. Really you could just rent or buy DVD's for differnt workouts - I used to do the same exact thing when I wanted to workout without a crowd.

I know exactly what your going through, I have been struggling off and on since I gave birth to my 1st born and still am having problems losing my weight.
I would love to have a support group but don't have funds either..

You can try Weight Watchers online. I've been doing WW and have lost 32 lbs so far. It's a simple plan and you don't have to buy special food or anything like that. Although now there is a lot of WW food available at stores, which is very convenient. Their food is actually tastes really good. I never feel deprived and still get to enjoy the foods I've always loved, just in smaller portions. Trying to lose weight is never easy, but is very attainable if you set your mind on it. I read on wfaa.com that they did a test where subjects drank 8 oz of water before they ate, 8 oz while they ate, and 8 oz after they ate breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Seems like a lot of water to me, but the group that did it, ate whaterver they wanted and lost weight.

I know someone who did this program who weighed over 350 pounds and was on all sorts of medications. He lost weight and is getting healthier everyday. So, I decided to try the 9 day cleanse and lost 13 pounds. I exercised longer then it says to, but I wanted the maximum results (like the biggest loser). try just plain ol' walking. it speeds up your metabolism and makes you feel good once your body gets use to it. my mom and i walk about a mile 4-5 times a week. i quit snacking during the day and lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks.

There are alot of diets/fads/pills etc... for weight loss and I've tried most of them. Have you heard of Low Glycemic Index foods? It's a lifestyle change of eating habits without counting calories (Yeah :) Basically, eating fruits and vegetables in it's raw state is the best!

I recently bought the book You, On a Diet. It tells all about your digestive system, what helps it work and what makes it stop working, and how your body digests and metabolizes food. This has helped me understand what different foods do to my body, so I eat differently now. It also said to drink a LOT of water and walk at least 30 minutes every day, without fail. I have been following this for about 2 weeks, not doing the actual diet in the book, and I have lost 8 pounds and feel a lot better. I still have to be cattle prodded out the door to walk most days because I HATE it, but once I am going I do ok. I do reccommend this book though, it will change how you view food. It has helped me curb my late night eating addiction.

What works for me is jogging. Start with a power walk and then try to jog 2-3 minutes at the time and walk. Slowly increase the jogging time. If the streets are too hard on your knees try the traidmill (you can use a friend`s apartment complex gym). I know it takes a lot of discipline, maybe you could find another mom in your area that would be interested in walking/jogging. Working out with a partner is always easier.
