Hi F.,
I wish I had some magic "cure", but the only thing I can do is validate what you are saying. I have always had to watch my weight, but I did so very successfully...up until I had my gallbladder out. I packed on almost 80 pounds in the 6 years following my surgery. 3 years after my surgery my SIXTEEN year old daughter had to have her gallbladder out. She has always been very active and quite the athlete. She too began a steady gain of weight. We are both MUCH to heavy for our frames but neither of us are over eaters nor do we eat a lot of junk.
When I took my concerns to my doctor, he pooh-poohed the connection between the gallbladder surgery and our weight gain saying only that 'maybe because we no longer hurt, we were able to eat more of the fatty foods'. However; neither my daughter nor I ever had pain after eating fatty foods...ours was more related to high acid foods like grapefruit. (Neither of us had gall stones..upon removal we found that both of us had deformed but not diseased gallbladders---therefore our symptoms did not fit the norm)
At any rate, I continue to battle my weight. I follow Weight Watchers and have, at least, slowed down in my gaining...but I still think there MUST be a relationship between the gallbladder surgeries and the weight gain.
Sorry, not to have any suggestions for losing the weight---but at least you know that you are not alone in thinking that there is a relationship to the gallbladder and your recent gain.
