Hi all. My husband and I want to get out of town for a weekend with our one year old son. We don't have a lot of money to spend, but we want to be able to get away and do some fun activities. We don't think our son is really old enough for Sea World or any water parks yet, but we are looking for any other activities within a few hours of the area.

What can I do next?

A. - You should check out Zilcher Park in Austin. It is known as Austin's favorite park, and it is so family-oriented and perfect just for a weekend. The park has a miniature train ride, a multi-age playscape(playground), and also a natural spring-fed pool with a year round temp. of 68 degrees. It's perfect! The area also offers the Austin Duck Tours (land/water) Have fun on your ventures!

We took my son when he was tht age to a few water parks but he didn't care he just liked the water. He couldn't go on any water rides. So, I would wait. He had more fun at the smaller ones like Randal Mill where there more play areas for kids or Even NRH2O.
At that age my son was happy with a Sprinkler or little pool too.

Galveston is really fun and not too hard on the wallet too! There is a Duck ride that goes on a tour of the town and into the water as well. There are lots of shops and some really good seafood too. We took our daughter and she loves playing in the sand and walking in the water. There is a Rainforest Cafe there that has a cool indoor ride too. Good luck on what ever you deciede on and have tons of fun!
