Hi! My husband and I are looking for places to go for long weekends during the summer that are within driving distance of Pittsburgh. We have a 2 yr old and a 6 month old so we really can't do anything like Cedar Point. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Geneva on the Lake in Ohio is nice, In Terra Alta, WV there was a "ski" resort but it is nice and inexpensive in the summer with a lake, pool, kayaking, fishing.....also central PA is about 4 hours and has Hershey chocolate world (free), and you are close to Amish country--Kitchen Kettle Village is close to Lancaster and has fun things to do. It's closed SUnday though. Also, you may want to check out all the local Pittsburgh places (Children's museum, history center, science center....) Most are free for 2 and under. Hope you have a great summer

Hi J. - if you're looking for a place to relax, my family really likes Stonewall Resort in Roanoke WV. It's about a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh. They have an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, scheduled activities for kids (making crafts, playing games, storytime, etc.) a full spa, golf course, onsite restaurant and separate bar and boat rentals. You can really do as much or as L. as you want. We go down for weekends when we just need to get away and a change of scenery!

Olgeby Resorts in Wheeling is a great family place... you can stay in the lodge or get cabins, and there is a mini-golf course, petting zoo, lots of trails, pool, etc.

How about the Waterfront? It's close to the city, Kennywood, Sandcastle and there's so much to do there. Shopping, movies, Dave & Busters and so many different restaurants. There's also atleast one hotel too. Hope you have some great getaways!!

EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood...I thought you were looking for just the 2 of you. Idlewild is great for families. The kids have always loved it and kids 2 and under get in for free. Blackwater Falls, WV was always a favorite growing up. Sorry again for the misunderstanding...you must have thought I was nuts!!
