My 6 yr old says his wee wee hurts on the side. He said it feels like a pricker is poking it. Does this sound like a bladder infection or something?

What can I do next?

I can't believe I'm typing this...

I had a UTI a few years ago and it felt more like I had been kicked in the testicles.

If it feels like something poking or pricking (trying so hard not to make any puns) - I would think two things - either a bug bite/splinter or the little dude got it caught in the zipper and is still feeling it.

If you don't see any marks on the skin - I'd take him to the doc.

If there are marks on the skin - I'd try to determine when the hurting started to see if it's something innocuous.

My little boy had an adhesion when he was about a year old. Is your little guy circumsized? Could that be the problem...? Or is he too old for that...?

My little brother got in a "thread tangle" around that age. I could only imagine how that felt, yikes.

I don't know about a pricker poking, but my three boys have all had times when it just hurt. I couldn't see a reason for it, so I figured it was just growing pains. They went away on their own.

If it is a bladder infection, there would be other symptoms, like a fever and pain when urinating. Keep an eye out for those, and monitor his pain, but otherwise, I'd say he's probably fine.

As a sort of disclaimer, I'm not one to take my kids to the doctor often. I know when things are serious and take them then, but otherwise, most of the time doctors will tell you it will go away on its own, so why pay for a visit?

my son isn't circumsized and has pain there too. i have taken him to the dr for it and it turns out to be a slight yeast infection. my son's ped. had us get a good athlete's foot cream. off had i can't remember the name of it but for a small tube of it was around $10 and we got it at walmart. but first i would take him to the dr if it is still hurting him by morning!!

I don't know, but I think he needs to go to the pediatrician for this.

Hope he gets better soon!
