we are planning on getting married in August of next year. The problem is that we have both been married before and being catholic, we can not get married in our own church. We still want to have a memorable ceremony with our friends and family but are having problems finding a place to hold the ceremony. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the juctice of the peace, please.

So What Happened?

I appreciate everyone's advice. I think we are going with the wedding at the hall idea. Now, I need to find someone to do the officiating. On this subject, I have no idea where to start.

Lot of people get married in New Town in St. Charles. They have a beautiful little chapel that's used primarily for weddings. They also book weddings in front of the grand canal with fountains in the background if you want an outdoor wedding. And they have Town Hall for receptions. I know all this because my husband is the entertainment director and wedding planner there! Give him a call at ###-###-####.

We got married at the lemp mansion. You can get married almost anywhere and the pastor/reverend/priest can go there. A friend just got marrieda t Shaw Gardens.

You could also get married in a Lutheran church more than likely. It is the closest to the Catholic religion, but they are more lenient on things like that.

I got married at the gazebo in St. Peters by the Rec Plex. The landscaping around it also makes for very beautiful wedding pictures. Not alot of seating if you're planning for a huge wedding.

my Brother is getting married in a few weeks and the ceremony is going to be at the reception hall...there are wedding chapels...there is one in Florrisant called the wedding chapel...we got married there...but wedding halls can set you up to get married...I think you can have the priest perform the marriage there at the hall...if you get married at the hall then your guest don't have to drive anyplace else it is all in one spot...Good Luck and Best wishes to you both

There are lots of great places to get married around St. Louis. There is a church in Webster Groves on the corner of Lockwood and Elm that is beautiful and will do a non-dominational ceremony. The Conservatory in St. Charles is a great place too. There are many places it just depends on your budget. If you wanted to get married in a Catholic Church, you might be able to do it but without a full mass. I am a wedding consultant/planner. If you would like more information about my services you can give me a call or our website is www.alredweddingconsultants.com. I hope these help you find something nice and memorable. Good luck and give me a call if I can help.
Best Wishes,
J.

Hi J.,
I would suggest a winery or a nice hotel. I personally got married at a winery and the scenery was beautiful. I planned for it to be outdoors, but it ended up being indoors due to weather & it was still wonderful. As an alternative, there are some very lovely hotels that would be glad to host your wedding. There's the new convention center in St. Charles with Embassy Suites and a very close friend of mine got married at the Sheraton at West Port. I'm sure there are quite a few choices if you would like to go that route. Downtown has some very nice hotels (Chase, Millenium, etc) that also serve as great reception places. I wish you the best of luck on your new happiness!

If you are in the St. Louis/St. Charles area, there is a place in St. Charles called the Conservatory. It's a small little greenhouse that they use specifically for weddings or other small occassions. Their website is gardenwedding.com.
It's not too pricey either. I looked into it about 5 years ago for our wedding and I think it would have cost us about $1000 for everything I wanted. They also have available a list that you can find someone to perform the ceremony. Good Luck to you!

depending on where you live, there is the conservatory down on Main Street St. Charles, there is also the Gazebo in St. Peters, and there is a beautiful flower garden area at Blachette Park in St. Charles. When my Mom got remarried her and my step dad actually got married at there house. It was a small simple ceremony but it was perfect.
Good Luck.

You might look into the Center for Spiritual Living in Creve Coeur. They are non-denominational, and you are welcome to have your officiant of choice perform the ceremony or they will. We were married there 11 years ago and they were easy to work with, inexpensive and flexible. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it gorgeous. Best of luck to you!
