I second Christine's Cakes & Pastries. They did an awesome job on my wedding cake, it wasn't cheap but they do have more affordable options.
Google her, they have a website. They're located on Hayes btw. Hall & 21 Mile.
My step-daughter is getting married and we need a wedding cake. Referrals please!
Reception is at Hall and Gratiot!
Thank you,
J. in Macomb

Cakes by Paula. www.cakesourspecialty.com. She does it out of her house in New Baltimore and has been doing it for a long time. Alot of my friends have used her for wedding showers, weddings, baby showers, birthdays, etc. Great cake and I think decent prices. I gave her a picture and an idea of what I wanted for my wedding cake and she hit it right on the nose. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I wouldn't have thought about this until recenlty. My neice in in the culinary arts program over at Macomb and her final exam was to bake and decorate a wedding cake.
I also know of a very talented chef who recently left the country club over on Harsen's Island to go work at the Vocational Center for L'anse Cruise schools.
Try the Culinary arts program at Macomb or at Chippewa and L'anse Cruise.

I'm really scared to write this - BUT - I will offer my services, IF it doesn't have to be a great, perfect cake. I am retired, due to a disability and have taken cake decorating classes. My cakes are always a bit off, looking to me. I do them for family and friends and they love them. I have never done a wedding cake, so of course, it would depend on, how complicated a cake your step-daughter wants, how many people, etc. and I would tell you if I am capable. I would just ask you to pay for ingredients and drive time (as long as you are a nice person) I live at 15 & Gratiot. Please do not hesitate to say NO Thanks.
Garrett's in Troy. Livernois and Long Lake. Great prices and great cakes.
I agree with one poster - make a small wedding cake and then do sheet cakes. I had 200 at my wedding and only paid $300 for my cake. We did it that way.
Hi
Julian Brothers Bakery in Royal Oak (Rochester Rd south of 14 mile) made my cake and it was much more affordable than all of the other places I looked into. He has a book for ideas but I just brought in a picture of what I wanted and he made it and it was wonderful!
I'm not sure how far he will deliver but it is worth looking into.
Good Luck

Hi J.,
My name is M. and I run a home-bakery business called "Frosting". I am in Macomb, near Hall & Card Rd. so your reception venue is right down the road! I'd love to be considered for your step-daughters wedding cake. You may email me at ____@____.com for further information if you'd like :) ps: When is the Wedding?
Thank you!
M.
Hi J. ~ I have a wonderful cake maker to refer to you ~ my mother in law! She lives in Algonac and makes cakes on the side. Here is her information:
Sue DeLange ###-###-####
She works during the day, so it is easiest to catch her in the evening. Just let her know I referred you. FYI, she made our cake and the top was just as good one year later on our anniversary!
Also, I sell PartyLite candles, if your daughter is looking for table centerpiece ideas, I would love to help her.
Have a great day ~ E. DeLange ###-###-####
Christines Cakes and Pastries in Shelby Twp. She is one of the best cake makers I have ever tasted and did my own wedding. A tip on saving money, just have them make a top cake to cut at the reception and then do a sheet cake in the back for cutting. The other layers of the cake can just be cardboard that is frosted and the guests have no clue. Here is the phone number. ###-###-####
