Have you looked at any of the mom owned places on this site. Maybe you might find something through one of them.
Has anyone used the babysitter website called Sittercity.com? (It has a one-line ad on
the mamasorce website). I tried phoneababysitter.com and was disappointed.... most of the people I contacted had moved, graduated, etc. Also, many of the babysitters were
pretty young for my needs. The Sittercity.com babysitters profiles I've looked at seem
to fit my needs better, but I am reluctant to fork out the registration money, not
knowing if I'll find anybody.

I looked at it briefly but decided against joining because I noticed that most of the profiles were quite old - so I figured that many of the sitters would no longer be available.
I don't know if you've had any luck yet but I wanted to tell you about a website that my friend has used and liked. It is
care.com. Hope this can help you.
Hi K.....I wasn't impressed, either!

Hi K.,
sittercity advertises on my business website. I know that they've used them in Utah for some of their functions and there weren't any problems. Another place you might try for finding sitters is the job offices at the local colleges. When I was in college they had community postings in our job office for the students.
Whitworth has some awesome students or Gonzaga too I'm sure. I'm sure you could look at the jr colleges too, but with your child's needs you may want to be a bit more particular on the pool of applicants.
You might try networking with people of similar circumstances (i.e. a family in the autism or diabetes community) that you could trade babysitting with. That way you'd have experienced parents and kids who understand eachother somewhat.
